I’m not going to blindly throw away my vote on another liberal.

But you'll be HAPPY with a SOCIALIST in the White House? I'm sorry, You hate McCain because he isn't CONSERVATIVE enough, yet you'll let a SOCIALIST in, because he's NOT McCain.

Sorry, I can't buy voting for a third Party - and I'll never vote LP again - because a major candidate is not CONSERVATIVE enough. You so-Called CONSERVATIVES make me SICK. McCain wants to keep Bush's Tax Cuts - Obama wants to RAISE TAXES. You are STUPID - like all LP members! (An EX-LP member)

Typical LIBERALtarian...You don’t mind a SOCIALIST in the White house raising TAXES and appointing LIBERAL JUSTICES. The LP is a BRANCH OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY, I am glad I left the PARTY of KOOKS like you and BobBarr.

LMAO

Very impressive arguments. I’m really surprised McCain doesn’t have you doing national TV shows as a spokesman for him. You make such convincing arguments for voting for another liberal, I’m sure you would be a great help to him in the race.

Well, no. I want the Constitution to win. You seem hell bent on trying to push liberal McCain by trying to scare us with a liberal Democrat.

Ain't a hairs worth of difference between 'em these days. Judges, taxes, gun control, global warming, the border... McCain and the Dems are in lock step.

No thanks. Pander your crap elsewhere if that is all the intellectual honesty you can muster.

Nah. I’ll vote for McCain. He’ll put it in constitutionalist SC judges. Roe will be overturned. Most important thing to me.

The length of your response would seem to convey some sort of logical argument. Instead, it says about as much as my brief response did in so many more words. In short, you went a long way to say little. To imply that because it is called the American CIVIL LIBERTIES union the organization is absolved of the consequences of its stances that have little, if anything, to do with preserving liberty and more to do with robbing us of liberty is troubling. Or is making sure that those ever dangerous nativity scenes disappear come Winter Holiday time preserving “CIVIL LIBERTIES.” However noble the intentions of the founders, the ACLU ceased to be about liberty long ago.

As for Mr. Barr one has to ask, if his intention was to preserve civil liberties was the ACLU really the only vehicle?

Barr’s gotta be better than the 3 that’s running. Unless he has some serious defects equal to the other 3, I’m voting Libertarian in November. I did in ‘96 and guess I’ll be doing it again.

The 3 running are nightmare candidates. Barr, Paul, Biden, Byrd and many others would be an improvement over the 3. I will vote for the best of those who promise to protect our borders and oppose amnesty.

I just read up on Barr, especially the way he treated his 2nd wife and his affair with his pre-3rd wife. He’s a sleazy SOB just like McPain & Clintoon with morals of an alleycat. BARF! I won’t be voting for him. If I can’t write in a candidate, I’ll be skipping the vote.

LOL delusional. Bush himself campaigned as the anti-nation builder in 2000 and then said Iraq would cost at most $50 billlion. He even sacked his financial advisor after he said Iraq might cost $200 billion. Now we spend every 3 months what Bush thought the entire war would cost. There is very, very little the libertarian philosophy and Democrats have in common. You neo-cons are destroying the Republican Party.

I’m hardly a left wing libertarian. I believe in a strong national borders and some slight protectionist trade laws and 100% against illegal immigration. Just because I don’t agree with Iraq nation building (of which nearly 70% of the country agrees with me) hardly makes me a left wing libertarian. I’m a registered Republican and I voted for Bush in 2000 and again in 2004 so I don’t see what your point is. I don’t plan to vote for Barr at present but I do know I won’t vote for McCain, especially after his latest round of Global Warming propaganda.

#1) We would have been safe from Iraq regardless of those weapons although perhaps Israel and eastern europe may have been at risk. Israel is perfectly capable of handling themselves as they demonstrated again last year with Syria. I might also add that by that logic we should be going to war with Iraq, Syria and N Korea as well.

#2) Invading Iraq in the first place and staying there is just as big of a reason. The rest of the globe, including the middle east, hates us worse now than at any time in probably a 100 years. Europe is far different story than the middle east and you know it. Europeans are a secular group and are capable of rational thinking. The middle east is full of religious nut thugs that have any interest in EVER being peaceful. That region hasn't been stable ever in 600 years

#3)It's pretty simple. We can't trillion dollar deficit spend which would be required to keep our current military activism and a comprehensive energy policy. If we did the latter, the need for the first shrinks as well. It's silly to have a policy that makes us weaker to the terrorist (reliant on foreign oil) and makes them richer as oil continues to go up and up and up. I'd rather pay $15 billion a month for any other form of energy.

I'd also add that officer friends I know in the armed forces say the war was badly mismanaged until Patreaus came along. They're having to give very, very large signing bonuses to keep people on and are having trouble recruiting people. The Iraq war, while well intentioned, has been a complete disaster. Bush said the most the war would cost would be $50 billion. He fired his sec of treasury after he said it could cost $200 billion. Now it's over $700 billion and no end in sight. How much more of my tax dollars are you willing to waste on it?

It's more than a little uncool to suggest that the war in Iraq has been a "total disaster". After all "the surge is working!" (Did I parrot the talking point correctly?)

Here's what Mark Helprin wrote last month (see the rest on Claremon Institue's site:

To begin with, American columns should have cut through Baghdad three days after they began to roll, and exited three weeks later, leaving Saddam dead and the pliant Iraqi strongman who betrayed him—candidates would not have been hard to find—to keep the country harmless to the West or suffer the same quick take-down. Rather than being broken on the wheel of irreconcilable Muslim factions, the supple and intact American power would have shattered the Arabs' elation following September 11th, and by threatening their rule been able to discipline the various police states of the region into eliminating their terrorists. Far more efficient that way, without six and more murderous and unavailing years in which neither a single democracy has appeared, nor will one. (The surge is merely coincident with a change in Sunni strategy. Instead of watching the U.S. and Iran arm the Shia for a major sectarian war that our small force in Iraq cannot prevent, the Sunni choose to avail themselves of American arms while simultaneously removing the lunatic jihadists nipping at their heels.)
