Another article about the useless and inept GOP and it’s Presidential candidate redefining socialism as “conservatism.” Nothing really new, but I have to admit that it’s entertaining to watch the GOP apologists twist and bend themselves into rhetorical pretzels explaining how this is a good thing for conservatives.

When socialism came to America, it was called “conservatism” and was wrapped in a GOP election banner.

Well, his job is to loose the election, and he is doing a good job at it.

"and the Republican brand is already in trouble." Golly gee! Ya think? And why has he not yet announced a VP? Which won't matter much because the VP has little to nothing to do with the direction a President takes. They only attend luncheons and caucus functions and do little in the name of administration policy. If that were the case, then Chaney has really missed the bus and failed miserably at his job. The Bush Presidency was a disaster and this latest turn to joining the Enviro-wacos was it for me. Bush is so desperate to have some sort of Legacy. He did like his Father, who signed restrictive emissions standards bills and said he wanted to be remembered as "The Environmental President". Well, he is remembered alright, as a tax raising RINO.

Exactly. While the spittle flies among the RINOs who would cut the baby down a 99:1 split, the real discussion in the article you posted is not abortion, but ROE.

ROE has been a political liability for the DUmmies. They've shouted that very fact from the rooftops -- "I think we need to talk about this issue differently," Dean said. "The Republicans have painted us as a pro-abortion party...we would like the word 'abortion'’ struck from the political discourse." -- and why? Because the DUmmies own ROE.

The question at hand, therefore, is why McCain is seeking limp-lettuce RINOs at the expanse of the expansive conservative base?

Why give away an issue that is a political liability for the PBA-supporting Obama?

Why signal you're not going to appoint conservative Supreme Court judges that will send ROE back to the states?

Why give the finger to several logical conservative vice-presidential choices?

More proof that McCain is just a tool to make the distinction between R and D irrelevant.

It is 1917 all over again.

This abortion/platform is such pure BS. Every RINO simply throws a bone to the "no exception pro-life absolutists", they get the vapors, and in exchange McCain gets his amnesty and his other RINO desires.

The abortion platform is a meaningless distraction - every election cycle.

All the "true conservatives" hate McCain and my sit out the election...so why does this matter?

McCain would have to go pretty far to lose even the hard-core pro-life vote:

God BLESS America, McCain 2008

The general election is nothing more than a DEMOCRAT PRIMARY between two factions of the socialist communist big government Democrat Party. The only difference between the two being the War in Iraq. McCain is for staying a little longer and there by possibly claiming a little honor, while Barry cuts and runs with all the dishonor of traditional Democrats. Otherwise their ain’t no difference. If McCain is smart and really wants to win, he just as well give in to the baby killers. He ain’t getting my vote no matter where he stands on babykilling. I would also recommend to the dislikable crossdressing old geezer, that he pick Joe Loserman as his vice-president, since he is running on a primarily Democrat platform, he could secure some Jewish votes and some Hillary voters that will not vote for Barry. McCain is what he is, and he the Keating Five Guy who tried to sell what little was left of his soul to Puff Daschle and the Democrats only to be grossly underbid for his treachery by the dolt Jimmy Jeffords.
