So because of maybe .00001% of the time Abortion might be necessary because of rape or incest you want to mandate it for the other 99.99999% of the time?

That's quite a leap from my post, where I specifically and only address the .00001% cases of rape and incest.

The point is, where is the moral principle that would force a 12 year old child to bear the infant of an IQ 70 rapist and career criminal.

It's not a reductio ad absurdum, it's a question of drawing a common-sense line. The uncompromising moral code that forces a child suffer from the above is unfathomable.

So you think an abortion would cause the child no pain either physical or psychologic?

I said no such thing, please don't put words in my mouth.

I do believe that having a 12 to 16 year old carrying the child of her rapist or (some relative) is far more cruel and abusive than having a 10 minute surgical procedure and one-week recovery, no matter how ugly that latter choice might be.

In fact it actually sounds like some sort of psychological torture.

If an adult impregnates her, and another adult takes her to have a living being ripped out of her body, which rape is worse?

If an adult rapes a 12 to 16 year oolld child, and that child is taken for a surgical procedure by caring people within a short period of time, I'd say the rapist deserves life in the slammer, the child needs to be cared for and comforted for many years, and the parents and physician have made very painful choices to reduce the long-term trauma done to their child.

The more I think about this, the crueler and more heartless your moral code sounds.

IMO Jesus Christ would provide forgiveness to all but the rapist.

JM really doesn't want to go there. In abortion the goal is to kill the baby. A mother and baby that are separated because of a life emergency isn't abortion because every thing possible is done to save the baby too. This exception does not need to be in the abortion debate. IMO,supporters use it though to justify abortion by pulling heart strings. The mother was “at risk” for this and that. There is always a risk with pregnancy. Most do fine though.

If the good Lord is willing two things will happen between now and September.

1) The Republican party will throw the angry little liberal under the Straight Talk Express in favor of a conservative candidate

2) The Antonio C account at FR will be converted from a follow-the-herd, partisan mentality to that of an independent, free thinking conservative.

Since when did abortion rights become the leading issue for the conservative movement?

Since they decided to start losing.

Can’t stop laughing at how those McCainiaks keep spinning and spinning McCain’s positions..
The GOP leadership has shown “us fly overtypes “who is in charge..McCain was intended to put a stick in our eye.
Those conservatives who must stay in the GOP better get used to eating more and more Socialist big government
SH!T.

If he does this it will make my decision on who to not vote for so much easier. If this had been his stand all along, I would not have liked it but I would have known where he stood.

To change now though would say, IMO, that he just wants to win and what little conservative values he has are for sale.

If abortion is murder, then isn't abortion always wrong, even in the case of rape? Yes, it's horrible for a teenage rape victim to have to carry a never-wanted, forced upon child to term. But the question is, which is the bigger injustice? Traditionally, at least, murder is seen as the worst class of crimes.

It's a hard question to answer, but if you are to be consistent...

Another article about the useless and inept GOP and it’s Presidential candidate redefining socialism as “conservatism.” Nothing really new, but I have to admit that it’s entertaining to watch the GOP apologists twist and bend themselves into rhetorical pretzels explaining how this is a good thing for conservatives.

When socialism came to America, it was called “conservatism” and was wrapped in a GOP election banner.

John McCain was elected by Republican voters and is backed by Republicans leaders. He is not a Democrat, and you are no Republican. Go back to DU.

Hahahahahaha!

McCain is big buddies with Kennedy, Clinton, and Lieberman. He is only backed by the RNC because they are as scared as you about running against liberals.

McCain also wanted to be Kerry's veep. So you seem to be the n00b that needs to head back over to the DUmp.

Oh, and most of us that don't care for McCain could care less about the "Republican" title and more about the "CONSERVATIVE" title...and McCain is no conservative!

Hmmmm, maybe a llort alert here.

"and the Republican brand is already in trouble." Golly gee! Ya think? And why has he not yet announced a VP? Which won't matter much because the VP has little to nothing to do with the direction a President takes. They only attend luncheons and caucus functions and do little in the name of administration policy. If that were the case, then Chaney has really missed the bus and failed miserably at his job. The Bush Presidency was a disaster and this latest turn to joining the Enviro-wacos was it for me. Bush is so desperate to have some sort of Legacy. He did like his Father, who signed restrictive emissions standards bills and said he wanted to be remembered as "The Environmental President". Well, he is remembered alright, as a tax raising RINO.

“John McCain was elected by Republican voters. . .”

No, he was not; he was elected by independents (read too cowardly to admit to being democrats) and democrats crossing over to vote in the Republican primaries.

I agree completely. Abortion is a horrible thing and ought to be outlawed in most cases. That said, I draw a lline at forcing by LAW a rape victim, especially a minor child rape victim to carry the result of that rape just because my personal religious beliefs would dictate it for me.

But still, all the Koolaid drinking McMainiacs on this forum still believe he is rock solid on voting for Constructionist/Constitutional Judges and is against abortion. If the issue of his backstabbing tendencies is even mentioned they go into a tantrum, close their eyes, put their hands over their ears and say LA, LA, LA, LAAAAAA, LAAAA, LAAAAAAAA!

Then say, if we don’t vote for him we betray all the unborn babies our troops our country and our momma. And the country is dooooomed forever! SHAME SHAME SHAME, you McCain-hater Troll!

Apparently it dies not matter that Conservatives kill off less. More people are registered Dems and identify them selves as such tan ever before. Well over 50% - depending on which survey you use.
