I can remember when a Democratic Senator from New York, Can’t recall his name off hand but it was Irish) was on firing line. He said that India would take aid packages sent from the United States and mark USSR on them before distributing them. He was one of those rare liberals who would tell the truth.

Propaganda before humanity. The names on those stickers should constitute the top of the “who to execute first” list...

He said that India would take aid packages sent from the United States and mark USSR on them before distributing them. India?
For what?
Those times, the US was actively and publicly involved in India's agricultural and space programmes, why would marking "Made in the USSR" matter in places where barely anyone could read, let alone read English?

We should force an immediate vote in the UN to either drop relief directly while people can be save OR do nothing. Let’s see how the world votes.
China, being the lord protector of Burma, should also be drug into this.
We are missing a fantastic opportunity to plaster that country with individual food packages that say, “Free to you, from the people of the United States.”

That was Senator Moynihan, and yes he said it. I think he was ambassador to India at one time. I am sure many Indians could speak English and I am also sure they knew what the hammer and sickle stood for.
For a very long time, India has been a stooge for the Russians.

He must’ve made it up, pissed as Nixon was, when India dismembered US-ally Pakistan, to form present Bangladesh. Nixon was then buddying up with China, using Pakistan.
That war threw a spanner into Pakistan’s works.

I wonder how long it will be before Jimmy Carter shows up to praise the humanitarian efforts of the Junta Generals and condems President Bush for not doing enough..

Actually it was common knowledge that India was doing that. I was just surprised to see a Democratic Senator admit it. Moynihan was not one of Nixon’s buddies.

Actually it was common knowledge that India was doing that. Can you provide one source informing of such? I tried Google, but nothing showed up.
If this really did happen, it would've been very big news, in India itself.

How would you research such an event? I am sure it could be done but would require pretty in depth research.
It did happen. If you choose to deny it fine. I doubt very much that India publicizes it's evil deeds tho I suspect any Indian politician of the era knows it happened.
Do you really expect them to acknowledge their doing such a thing?

Don't worry, they will blame the United States for the problem.
