The news story linked above mentions the dead woman is part of a “tour group.” This might mean that the people in those two cars comprised a group that socialized aboard the train, and/or that they’ve spent time together before boarding the train (e.g. a church group).

“The whole place is being overrun with ambulances and police cars, and we’ve got helicopters,” town chairwoman Deborah DesRochers told Canadian Press.

Don’t forget that Canada’s socialized medicine has been shutting down rural hospitals, too. A friend of mine worked in Nelson, BC, which is in a big valley, and pretty much cut off during the winter. It had a small hospital that provided services to about 30,000 people in the valley. Canadian healthcare decided it was too expensive to keep it open, so now if there’s an emergency, people have to be medevaced 60 miles over the mountains. Try that in the middle of winter.

BFL.
Thanks! Tour group, huh? From China, maybe? I know the Chinese are dealing with an enterovirus outbreak at the moment, though IIRC that’s more dangerous to small kids.

One woman dead, Via train in Northern Ontario quarantined
...it is a respiratory illness.
Bad things. Where did the first case come from? I will read the thread and follow up.
Off today, so I can catch up on some Freeping!
Oh no its “The Stand” :P
I bet it isn’t as bad as it sounds now. Remember how people panic.
Heck, the Scott County IA Red Cross did a mock quarantine a few weeks ago.
There are two possibilities.
1. No.
2. Not the REAL truth.
Just remember when that islamic boy rented a big SUV and was running down American college students screaming. In about 5 seconds after the story broke our government was telling us it was not terrorist related. There are many many such examples of our government not telling us the truth in incidents like the one I mentioned.
That's about right for a round trip/return trip.
They could be sick, or it could be like the 1990s where people observed people “getting sick” or “having trouble breathing” in public and experienced the same symptoms.
The madness of crowds.
Link says 4 pm.
I got that from a very hard to decipher site.
If they’re being air-lifted to hospitals then they haven’t been quarantined.
