It’s a shame that the despicable acts of a few will impact on the responsible many, but that’s why we have laws. It always seems to be that small group, less than 5% of the population, who screws it up for the rest of us.
I’ve seen a lot of destruction committed in rural areas by kids on ATVs. They are highly mobile and unsupervised, and yes, the individual should be held responsible but just try and catch them in the act!
There should be legal statutes on who can and cannot operate off-road machines, just as there are motorbikes. Off-road bicycles don’t drag horses - not enough power. ATVs, because of their power, speed and maneuverability, can go almost everywhere and really tear up soil and vegetation. It makes it really tough on farmers and livestock.
See my answer on post #21 for an explanation.
Furthermore, my statement about ATVs is the result of irresponsible usage by people, mostly kids, in rural and timbered areas. I want to add that I have friends who hunt using ATVs and they are a useful and practical machine when used responsibly. Many farmers and ranchers use them. But this vehicle really tears up wet soil and allows people to go where before one could not unless physically able on foot or horseback.
As a person looking to buy farmland and raise horses, this article really, really pissed me off.

Same.
I wouldn’t mind the opportunity to show perp how it feels.
Then pour on a pound of salt.
