The guy’s a moron. What are the chances that a civilization lasting long enough to develop faster-than-light interstellar travel would still be violent enough to want to conquer another planet?

Our acreage used to be part of a farm over 20 years ago. It grows stuff a local botanist has had trouble identifying. We’ve simply named them “Triffids.” Very few family members get the joke but we’re the nerds of the bunch.
As to the noise output of the Earth, if aliens are stupid enough to come here they deserve what happens to them.

Any intelligent life in the universe is going to take one look at our various radio and television transmissions, declare earthlings dangerously schizophrenic and place us under permanent quarantine.

Either that or they will sell tickets to the freak show.

I believe that if hostile aliens tried to subdue the Earth, humans would very quickly learn the technology that brought them here and before long we would be running the show again.

I can only wonder how long that would take for that sound to travel such great distance?
I think if there is a threat at all would still be from space rocks or even some organisms that just might make it past burning up on entry in our atmosphere.
I mean... if a guy REALLY have a need to feel doomed.... are are far more likely scenarios.

What are the chances that a civilization lasting long enough to develop faster-than-light interstellar travel would still be violent enough to want to conquer another planet?Pretty good, I'd say, if you assume a society with very strong internal bonds of cohesion but extreme antipathy to others.
IOW, they're violent to everybody but each other. We have a pretty good example right here on earth with 1930s and 40s Japan. Very low internal conflict. Extreme aggression channeled outwards, even towards people that were no threat to them such as Pacific islanders.
