I’m really getting tired of “empowered” people who constantly need to have their asses kissed out of so-called “R-E-S-P-E-C-T”. Get bent, babe! And go back to school while you’re at it.
I’m not going to re-watch the video and will grant you that you probably saw it correctly. However..... I am not going to budge on my position about the kid being out of line.
This is EXACTLY why we are having so many problems with respect in our schools and other places. When I was young, nobody would have ever spoken to an adult in this manner, regardless of whether the adult “provoked” it or “instigated” it. Television, the movies, and our culture has elevated children to the level of adults in every way and I do not think this is right.
For whatever it’s worth, some time ago Dennis Prager (my favorite radio host) did an hour segment on this very topic. I think he brought up a story about a kid going up to an adult that was smoking and the kid was telling the adult how wrong he was to smoke. I agreed totally with Prager that the child had no right to criticize the adult.
While I enjoyed watching Monica Conyers looking like a total idiot, I still do not condone what the kid did. No way - no how.
Well now, you are entitled to your uptight views about children being disrespectful to the adults in a room. Perchance, you can get Ms. Conyers to act like an adult and not pursue a child’s questions with hostility. If you don’t want to watch the video again, I suggest you drop your arguement as it is a “no-brainer” with no backup.
There have been numerous editorials, columns and newspaper articles written on the topic of children overstepping their bounds. It is no coincidence that all of this has happened in a culture where television and the movies consistently portrays parents as stupid, bumbling, fools and the children as paragons of intelligence and common sense.
