I think the issue here is that the consequences kept changing. If the penalty for not following the dress code about political speech is two days suspension, then they should have received it. HOWEVER, the addition of missing senior prom, etc. cannot and should not be added on.

Sometimes protest carries consequences. There is little nobility in any protest that doesnt. I have to agree and the last time I checked the Constitution, I could find no right to attend the prom.
However, if the school permitted other students from wearing "Pro-Choice" tee shirts then there may be a problem.

A political message involves suggesting how people should vote, the shirts didnt do this.Every year we march down Constitution Avenue wearing these or similar t-shirts and then lobby our Congressman to stop the killing. That's a political message and so is this, one I support.
Like I said if any political message t-shirts are allowed, then so are these and the Principal should be fired.
