I have sent not one but TWO messages questioning McCain’s remarks concerning North Carolina Republicans. I even went so far as to ask if he is trying to lose intentionally!

"Is there even a chance they could do anything like this?"

It's common knowledge. Convention delagates can vote any way they want to. At the convention they do an initial ballot, and the nominee to be must get a majority of the votes(per state). If they don't get the necessary votes, there is a second ballot, and other candidates can be added to that ballot of the choosing of party bosses.

I never liked McCain, but might have held my nose and voted for him. After this issue with the NC Republican party, there's no way. I will either vote Libertarian(if the candidate isn't too crazy), or stay the hell home.

The ONLY way I will vote republican now is if McCain is replaced at the convention.

I’m such a dreamer. I wish they could replace him with Duncan Hunter.

My six year old girl is such a little sweetie-she still prays for Duncan Hunter to win at the dinner table every night! (”and vote for Duncan Hunter!”)

Maybe there will be a miracle if we all wish and pray enough.

I agree that McCain has worked hard to differentiate himself from Bush. I don't think the serious 'Rat attacks tying him to Bush have really gotten off the ground. We'll see how they do when they do.

McCain does have some Bush baggage that he'll have to be careful about. He was in OH recently singing the praises of NAFTA and globalism and "free" trade. That is suicide here. You can't go out and tell people it's a great thing that they've lost their jobs and their dreams have been crushed. That kind of crap almost cost Bush the state in '04, and that would have been the election if he had. McCain will have to be more politically astute than that.
