Normal women do not feel that they are being raped during an examination. Neither do normal girls.

I didn’t say the process shouldn’t involve changing their religion- I just hope it will happen slowly and under the supervision of a professional. I sure don’t think the answer is to try to convert them to another religion ASAP.

"No, it is relavant because it demonstrates selective enforcement of the law.You really hate mormons don’t you? Are you a mormonphobe or what?"

If you want to make a Mormon defense of Warren Jeffs and his child rape cult, feel free although I think it is a mistake.

By the way although Jeffs was sentenced to two consecutive sentences of 5 years to life in Utah for conducting these rape ceremonies don't try to contact him there.

As leader of the FLDS Jeffs was just transferred to Arizona to face the rape charges in that state since they also have a compound there. His picture is the one that you see over the children's beds in Texas. At some point will he be in Texas? He will be involved, it is his cult and he is their prophet, they obey him.

I didn’t say that normal women feel as though they are being raped. I only told you to imagine the feelings of a normal woman and then compare them to a young girl who knows nothing of the outside world and has been taught to keep her body shrouded in long underwear to protect her from violation by imaginary spirits. I’m not sure whether you are being intentionally obtuse or you are just incapable of empathy.

Usually, in these situations, the mother is permitted to stay with the child during the examination. These kids had no one. Many police officers, in cases of suspected child abuse on young children, recommend against pursuing the case because it is as hard on the child as the original abuse and it forces the child to relive the abuse.

I guess I have to repeat this again: many of the mothers cannot tell them who their children are, many of them won’t, and the children don’t have a clue because they’ve been raised by other women. So you would have the state just hand over children to anyone who comes along? Should the state of Texas just hold a fire sale on children and babies, since it wouldn’t matter who claimed the tots, so long as the state no longer held them?

Your post—and possibly you—are just beyond repulsive. If you don’t like what we have to say on these threads, find another topic. Or is it that your mouse is broken, and only clicks on topics you don’t like?

“beyond repulsive”?

I happen to think that child rape really IS a horrible thing. But it’s hard to see where you’d put that on your scale, if you think that a simple comment encouraging the discussion to stay in this thread so we can discuss the new articles in our own threads in a rational way would rise anywhere near the level of “repulsive”.

Look, maybe you haven’t personally said it, but I’ve seen the anger and hurt that some of you have experienced simply by watching the more logical freepers among you debating the various aspects of this case.

We try to have a free-wheeling discussion where people throw out points and counterpoints, and we actually through that sometimes can come to a better understanding and agreement.

But when we are doing so, others who are more emotional about this keep interrupting and calling us child molesters and rapist apologists and other things, and expressing what I believe is heartfelt hurt that any conservative could possibly hold opposing views.

Some have gone so far as to suggest that if people post links to stories that say the wrong things, those people should be thrown off FR (maybe just one did that).

Rather than continuing to upset you and others, and then have to put up with being called names and being accused of crimes or at least coddling criminals, it really isn’t a bad idea to separate out the emotional discussion from the typical no-holds-barred discusson of current events that are the norm here.

I didn’t really participate here during the Terri Shiavo period, but I understand that at some point the opposing groups kind of agreed to disagree and stay in their own threads for the good of the community.

If you don’t think this is a good way to handle the difficulty that some have in seeing others here argue for due process rights for the cultists, I’m sorry. You set up this nice single place for all the news, so it wasn’t scattered all over the board. I’m encouraging people to take advantage of it.

I’m trying to accomodate that, by recommending that those wh

FLDS was forced on them.

How is this different from any other religious faith for the most part? Most people I know have been forced to participate in the religious services or beliefs of their parents as children. As adults, some have changed but most have kept their parents faith. So why is the FLDS somehow illegitimate for trying to raise their children in their own faith?

Their religion IS the problem. We need to teach them that there are alternatives to religious slavery

You live in the wrong country for that. You may want to join the Chinese People's Liberation Army and their quest to liberate Tibet from the "religious slavery" of Tibetan Buddhism.

I haven’t seen a poster on here that supports the rape of children: I think you know that. You have already convicted these people that choose to live in this organized fashion and I have yet to see demonstrable guilt. If these people want to follow Jeffs, that is their choice—I don’t see the violent crimes here.

Audio of Rozita Swinton’s “Sarah” calls [snippets only]:

OH, NICE....you insinuate by your post that this is a recording by "Sarah" to the shelter that provoked the raid, when you should know THAT call was not recorded. These calls were to Flora Jessop.

Honesty would have been to make that clear.

You know, Charles, you really should start your very own thread that will be monitored by you, on your terms.

I'm sure that a lot of us would stay off it entirely.

In the meantime, Miz is struggling with starting something new on this FLDS flap, while still carrying on a normal home life with family demands, etc.

This IS the first day, but that won't mean anything to someone as perfect as yourself.

Maybe you should take a sabbatical from the FLDS threads that seem to be giving you such hearburn by not agreeing with your pontifications, until such time as she FMs you that the kinks have been worked out on the daily thread. That will give those of us who wish time to corral the info into a logical presentation, then you can continue in your persona as the thread nanny.

BTW, Rather than continuing to upset you and others, and then have to put up with being called names and being accused of crimes or at least coddling criminals, it really isn’t a bad idea to separate out the emotional discussion from the typical no-holds-barred discusson of current events that are the norm here......there are plenty of us who are eager to carry on this "no-holds-barred discusson of current events that are the norm here.".

We spend our time here on FR "discussing" and being maligned every day....by those who show a remarkably similar "attitude of superiority" as you do. And, we are STILL here.

The video at the link makes things perfectly clear. Honestly, I don’t know why some of you are so hypersensitive about the Swinton issue.

The 437 children taken from the compound in West Texas will be plunged into a culture radically different from the community where they and their families shunned the outside world as a hostile, contaminating influence on their godly way of life.

Sounds horrifying.

Honestly, I don’t know why some of you are so hypersensitive about the Swinton issue.

Perhaps because we are constantly having to dispute post after post of claims that "The phone call was a Hoax!" from wishful thinking FReepers. I, for one would be thrilled to see a factual post that the issue had been definitely solved, one way or the other.

You are delusional if you think “your side” is so logical.

Most of the people spouting on your side don’t even have basic facts about the case. They come on the thread spouting their unfounded “opinions”, and have to have the facts about the affidavits and the hearings laid out for them, because they based their rants on Dr. Phil or Greta.

“Grunt. CPS BAD! State EVIL!” (Wow, sounds a bit EMOTIONAL.)

“Grunt. Me know law better than Texas Rangers.”

“Grunt. Not constitutional!! No due process!”
(There were two warrants, an order of removal, and several hearings.)

“Grunt. Give babies back to mommas!!”
(We don’t even know WHO is supposed to have legal custody of those children!)

“Grunt. Wimmin voting BAD!!”

“Grunt. Wimmin no have constitutional right not to be beaten!!”

Or raped. Don't forget about not having a right to not be raped, too.

I fail to see why the state is being condemned for the very actions taken by the cult and why if it's wrong for the state to separate kids from mother's it's OK for the state to give them back to the cult where that's known to happen.

Again for the government haters, nothing the state can ever do is good enough for some people to commend and nothing the cult does is bad enough for them to condemn.

These people willing to send the children back into a situation they condemn the government for.
