Hemp, that industrious little plant of the cannabis family, was once used almost exclusively for canvas on sailing ships.
The plant that helped win the Revolutionary War and create our federal government has now been outlawed by that government.

The previous ruling party of Afghanistan has funded many military operations, including 911 from the proceeds of selling naturally occurring opium scraped off the innocuous little poppy plant.
When you buy illegal drugs, you're handing your money over to criminals to fund whatever messed up plans they have for that money to further increase their wealth (like buying guns for a home invasion robbery- maybe yours) or buy much more potent and addictive drugs.
What did you think they do with the money, build daycare centers?
BTW, no one sells hemp for drug use, it did not create our government or win the war, it was phased out because, besides having a low tensile strength compared to modern fibers, it's prone to rot, just like the brains of pot smokers.

Not the “selling” part. The govermnet has the right to regulate commerce. It has no right to dictate what plants you may or may not grow in the privacy of your own home.
You are obviously ignorant as to what LE is going after in these most recent raids. These are LARGE GROWING OPERATIONS, certainly not for "personal use." This isn't a libertarian issue. The size, financing, commercial quantity, and foreign influence (Canadian, Vietnamese) makes going after these ops necessary for the protection of children and others in our society.
After you read what is going on here, then come back and tell us LE "has no right to dictate,..." blah, blah, blah.

So you care about “safety”? FAR more people are harmed and killed participating in, or as a by-product of, the illegal drug trade than by the drugs themselves, which is negligible. If you cared about “safety” you would welcome an end to all the needless bloodshed caused by prohibition.

Nice attempt at a strawman. Well, not really. It was kind of lame. None of those drugs occur in nature as a plant that requires no refining or processing.
My problem lies in the fact that if I put a certain seed in some dirt and pour water on it, I can go to jail for a LONG time. In my opinion that is a severe abuse of government power.
