Gee, I bought a big bag of rice at Costco last week. Didn't know I was contributing to a food panic.

Liberals will demand price controls and rationing. A prescription that will only exacerbate the current food price crisis.

Food shortage? Oh, God, save us from another liberal scam. The SPI is now carrying another “liberal crisis banner” — yes, tell that all to the farmers who are being SUBSIDIZED BY THE U.S. TAXPAYER in huge sums of money, TO NOT GROW FOOD.
Now, again SPI, what food shortage???

Maybe folks are starting to panic due to a fear of a liberal take over of our government in November.
Be back in a bit..heading to the store to buy rice, flour and cooking oil!!

Ain’t biofuels fun? Burn more corn, drive the price of everything up....what the hell. It costs twice as much to make fuel from corn, causes more polution and the list goes on. This is as bad as global warming. Does Gore own stock in corn?

Americans are too fat anyway. We could all stand to slim down some.
I’m buying MRE’s and ammo.

It costs twice as much to make fuel from corn, causes more polution and the I don't have the figures, I but I agree with you that it costs more to make biofuels. Why can't we just see the light, make appropriate changes, and drill for oil?

Thank you for the article, Lorianne. I have been following this impending world food shortage for some time - and am continually amazed at the posts that ridicule the possibility.
No, I am not saying, “The sky is falling!” But, I do think before we scoff at the articles and stories about rationing and food shortages, it might be wise to do a little research.
The grocery stores in my area have raised prices overnight. Rice costs have more than doubled in the last five weeks (according to this article). Many shelves are bare, that used to be full in Sam’s Club.
I don’t think it is just “Liberal Thinking” to be more than a little concerned.

Jim Senegal will be standing tall with Al Gore and all the other crazies. God, I hate Costco’s management.

Not to mention it provides less energy and costs end consumers more to fill up. Our E85 by our house costs $3.11 a gallon, but since your MPG drops about 33%, it actually has an unleaded equivalent cost of $4.14. My in-town mileage drops from 12 mpg to 8 mpg on that crap. Why would anyone want to burn it when there is still non-food based gas to be bought.

I bought a big bag of rice at Sam’s Monday along with cooking oil which had doubled in price since last week. Decided to by two.
Guess you and I brought on this panic ~snicker~
