“Guns shouldn’t be where they can be stolen”
So you have invented an impenetrable force field?
Only if they're clumsy enough to make it obvious. One girl with a clean record can just go store to store and buy up enough to equip the whole gang.
Which is why all these restrictions are silly. If a guy is too dangerous to be allowed to own a gun, then he's too dangerous to be allowed to walk the streets
“Guns shouldn’t be where they can be stolen”
Neither should cars, TV sets, stereos, cameras, wallets, jewelry, your identity, etc.
Get real! ANYTHING, kept ANY PLACE remotely accessible, CAN BE STOLEN!
Yes. Where I used to work, a female security guard left her weapon in the stall in the ladies room. When she finally realized her mistake, the gun was gone.
AMEN
I figured that somebody knew of an instance, but I have a feeling that it is an extremely rare event.
That's easy to explain.
Illegal aliens vote Democrat, illegal guns don't.
Off to walmart at lunch to do the payday spending.
A distinction without a difference.
If I wanted to sell a weapon these days I would go to a gun show and simply put a For Sale sigh on it. As I was walking around people would see it and if they have a Nevada state DL, I would probably sell it to them. Rugriders and those adorned with gang tatoos would be told to keep walking.
Which is utterly ridiculous. How on earth can a gun store clerk be expected to know what a legal gun buyer intends to do with the gun he just sold?
Bloomberg sent private detectives to GA to illegally buy guns from GA gun stores through strawmen buyers in order to prove that GA is the source of NYC's illegal guns. IOW, the NYC mayor's agents acting on his orders deliberately and knowingly broke federal and state laws to "prove" his accusations, so why isn't ATF charging him and his agents with breaking federal gun laws? Buying a gun with the intention of transferring it to an illegal buyer is a federal crime carrying a mandatory 10 year sentence with no parole. Yet Bloomy sent agents to deliberately break that law and is getting away with it Scot free, why?
>Some states I think require a CCW to purchase ammo.<
That I have never heard of. ID, yes - CCW, no.
Easy, a total ban on all privately owned firearms. After they get that they will start working toward banning many kinds of knives and other sharp instruments as they are doing now in the UK. It's not clear what they will want after that, maybe a ban on rocks and sharp pointed sticks?
These measures will do exactly NOTHING to stop criminals from getting guns.
Having said that, I have no problems with the first three "proposals" anyway, and my only gripe with the last is that you can be put on the "no-fly" list for a multitude of reasons that have nothing to do with felony convictions, domestic violence, or mental illness.
“That I have never heard of. ID, yes - CCW, no”
The People’s Republic of Illinois requires a FOID permit (granted it’s not a CCW) to buy ammo. That is what isn’t banned by Comrade Blago yet.
Certainly some nanny state would require a CCW for ammo. They can’t ban the firearm so they try to limit the ammo.
“...if Congress would pass laws to impose foolproof methods...”
How can a company of fools impose fool proof methods?
I’ll I’ve ever had to do to purchase ammo in Virginia is tell the person what I want and give them the money. I know there is an age limit in Virginia, but it doesn’t affect me so I’ve never paid attention to it.
Many states would love your proposal. On request, of course, we're not going to brand felons on their license. It's called registration of firearm owners. Works great here in Illinois, essentially what instant check does in 24 hours, the state gets done in a few months, even for renewals. And no, you can't legally own a firearm during their delays.
