This is a compound only in the most general sense, a vast t ract of land with homes and large building scattered. No bolt cutters were used to gain entry. Access to the homes was graciously granted. Every attemot was made to comply with authorities. Yes, this abolutely was and is a religious witch hunt. Hundreds of children who are well fed, well clothed and lacking any visible abuse are torn from their homes in a vain attempt to destroy a religious culture that practices polygamy and adolescent marriage. Society has already accepted both as normative.
“Now, I don’t care who you are, that there is some funny stuff.”
I know it has been about a year and a half since you made the above reply, but I thought I would follow up and see if your sentiments have changed yet, as I am confident they will eventually.
Nothing has changed.
Tell me a story.
Well since then, we now have a radical, anti-American president whose mentor, Bill Ayers, is a terrorist and advocate of killing millions of Americans.
We now have federal hate crimes legislation which has the purpose of stifling criticism of the homosexual agenda and providing a legal mechanism for stealing wealth from opponents through law suits.
We have the founder, not a member, but the founder of GLENSEN in charge of public education policy.
We have white house appointees who openly express their admiration for Chairman Mao.
We have bills offering to spend millions of tax dollars more on abortion. We have death panels proposed. We have the government planning to control and ration health care. We have orchestrated national emergencies. We have legislation designed to prevent families from producing their own food supply.
And the list goes on.
If you think nothing has changed in 18 months, you are naive. The most surprising thing that does not seem to have changed is your attitude.
What I warned about and you scoffed at is now beginning. Perhaps there are enough people who are not naive to still stop this from happening. Perhaps not.
Now, I don't care who you are, that there is some funny stuff.
Christians still do not side with FLDS and their child molesting and child rape and anti-Christian religion, I haven't changed my views on that.
What happened with this group is apparently statutory rape. Further, Texas changed the law to disallow marriage of a minor with parental consent beginning at age 14. The law was changed to 16 so the state could go after these people.
Now I personally disagree with the type of marriage going on there, and I personally disagree with the law created to prosecute them for it. I do support laws that would prosecute a polygamous marriage involving a minor.
I really did not follow up with you to debate these points as I am sure my position is in the minority and it is not that important to me.
However, the state of Texas also allows homosexual couples to be foster parents. I am not sure if we are a state that allows adoption. But if I am supposed to be up in arms about this cult, I would like to see laws that actually reflect the Biblical standard I believe in.
While I disagree with Mormons and these splinter groups on both theology and morality, I feel even more passionate about government officials trying to push their particular moral and religious beliefs on the populace.
But this is all beside the point. I don’t see how you can call my warning about a coming Nazi-like era in our nation “funny”.
Perhaps that is not what you meant.
This FLDS thread is dead, if you want to discuss them then post a vanity or an article in general chat.
