We have the best military in the world because we DO NOT have the draft. A draft is a liberal's vehicle to destroy the military.
No one in the DoD wants a draft.
The only exemptions or deferments I would make are for students studying fields vital for a war effort like engineering, science, medicine, etc. I would not defer law students, divinity students, etc.
Also, I would only have a draft during a war that has been declared by Congress.
They had more problems with any given unwilling draftee than ALL the rest of their men put together. They had one stoner (his nickname was "Spaceman") that they wouldn't even issue ammunition to. They gave him a desk job to get him out of the way, although they had to redo any work they gave him.
They don't want them, they are nothing but trouble and wasted manpower and the Army doesn't get their money's worth out of them.
Wrong??!? It’s flat out unconstitutional, per Amendment XIII.
So everyone other than those in engineering, science, & medicine should become indentured government servants?
Oye.
I do believe the article is satire.
Check out the first “A Modest Proposal” from 1729.

Heh. Good luck winning that one, Aver v. US, 245 U.S. 366 (1918), see alsoU.S. v. Holmes, 387 F.2d 781 (7th Cir.), cert. denied, 391 U.S. 936 (1968).
I don’t want a draft, but I do want to know if Barack Hussein Obama registered for selective service. Was he at the age that it was required? If he didn’t register, doesn’t that make him ineligible for government jobs.. i.e. the presidency and the senate?
The disadvantage to the current force structure is that the same (relatively few) are doing all the fighting. These guys are bearing the heavy cost of the sacrifice; the country is living extravagantly and spending profligately. There's no shared sacrifice.
Dude, this goofball doesn’t know what the heck he is talking about.
Read my next comment. Only during a war or emergency declared by Congress.
I don’t want such people anywhere near my son’s fighter plane.
“...want to know if Barack Hussein Obama registered for selective service...”
Hmm. Would be interesting twist if he had not, but I doubt it.
8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of Industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
Here’s your Work Corps. Karl and his buddies planned this a long time ago.But the good news is, his Manifesto is pretty well incorporated into our Soviet State already.
John, Barry, or the Hilldog only have a little fine tuning left to do.
You have to have a name, date of birth and social security number. I checked mine and found my Selective Service Number! :-)
BHO was born 08/04/1961, but I don't have his social security number. The latest I have heard is that he doesn't show up in the database. Doesn't this disqualify him from government jobs? Is the Presidency and Senate considered Federal employment? What else does not registering mean?
There is nothing regarding the prohibition against 'involuntary servitude' except as punishment for a crime that requires any ''interpretation'' whatever..
The circumstance that some corrupt and/or illiterate court ruled that a draft, particularly a peacetime draft, does not violate Amendment XIII does not change the truth of the proposition.
“Doesn’t this disqualify him from government jobs? Is the Presidency and Senate considered Federal employment? What else does not registering mean?”
First things first.
Did he register?
