My point is that the political elite of this country, including the Reps, share the same feelings about the American public. Rove has been a disaster for the Rep party.

Middle America is about as xenophobic, antieuropean and culturally closed minded as any other place, neither more or less.

As someone who has lived 25 years of his adult life abroad in 9 different countries and travelled to more than 60 others, I would say unhesitatingly less when compared to the rest of the world. There is no more tolerant and welcoming country to immigrants than this one.

“Obama makes blanket statements and categorizes “typical white people” all the time.”

Which should have ended his run right there, right then but it didn’t. They are still looking for more reasons to not believe that this man is a socialist, racist, anti-American black man, when the evidence is in every word he has said.

from the comments

I think that you go into some of these left-wing blogs, and like a lot of self-proclaimed “liberal” enclaves, they perceive that their true died-in-the-wool leftist candidates have been gone now since 1968 and nobody has replaced them. They saw huge losses in the 80’s, and then later with Kerry and Gore… so it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to environmentalism or Marxist dogma or antipathy to people who aren’t like them–anti-religious sentiment, perhaps–as a way to explain their frustrations. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that they latch on to some vague, ethereal concept of “change” to give purpose to their lives.

If what Obama said is so spot on, so accurate, and so understandable if heard in full, then nobody should have a problem with it being played over and over and over and over for the next 7 months.

And it will… oh, it definitely will.

"Christmas in "It's a Wonderful Life" as the true positive meaning of religion. Faith, family life, and traditional values in a small town."

Exactly true, as corny as it may seem to some metro types.

Get yourself a copy of it on DVD Obama.

I'd say in the vast configuration of things, Alan is just one more scurvy little spider's helper. :)

Obama’s church clings to xenophobia too. Perhaps he should’ve used this line in his chastising Pastor Wright.

Barack Hussein Obama (I use the middle name ‘cause that’s how your mother would always call you out when you were playing in the street with your friends and got in trouble plus the medis does it when listing criminal names so as to reduce maximum confusion; it ain’t about xenophobia about his middle name, his other names are muslim too) is a lousy bigot and unfit to serve as president of these United States.

Obama's "point" was the same they always make in every election post mortem...

They cannot "get through" (lie to) voters who's issues are "2nd amendment", "pro-life", "traditional definition of marriage", opposing the homosexual agenda...

Even black Democrats don't stand with the Democrat party on abortion, homosexuality, and school vouchers. But largely in speaking about "small town America" (Bush Country, the OVERWHELMING county opposition to Democrat policies in "flyover country) Obama was speaking about white people "the United States of You People".

Back to the issues, the Democrats and Obama will not bend on these positions (although he's trying to court pro-life Democrats with a series of lies). The lib billionaires in San Fransicko he was talking to agree on these issues. So how does the party "get through" to the "gun nuts" those with "religious convictions and morals" and vote Democrat ANYWAY...

In "clarifying, he said that government can do it better. Is this the same government that his mentor said was responsible for the blowback of 9-11-2001? Is this the same government that Obama claims small town America is ALREADY wary of?

He's an idiot.

And for Obama, it has been just a single utterance of “typical white person”, there have been numerous such references.

Remember that the media killed Ross Perot(I)’s campaign (in 1992?) over a single use of “you people” when talking to gathered black audience somewhere, no?

Unfortunately I think that in this case Limbaugh may be correct when he says “we are so screwed” with regard to our GOP “candidate”. McCain can easily find a way from within himself to screw it up and hand victory to the enemies of our constitution. One of their party’s founders, Jefferson held a dim view of the constitution and openly believed that it should be thrown out and revamped, through continued revolution if necessary.

“Please no “don’t let the door hit you” cracks. I have seen
enough of them from fellow FReepers”.

...You won’t get those comments from me. I’ve already looked into Costa Rica and New Zealand. Was it enormously expensive to settle in Slovakia? Do you like it there?

Slovakia is nice. One can live here in the capital city for $1000 or less per month. Vienna is only 40 miles away.
