I don't usually read long posts, but I did read this. Some interesting insights. But I wouldn't categorize Jeremiah Wright's message as "clownish." "Diabolical" would be a good start. "Stupid" fits in there somewhere as well.
Obama must be towing a great big red wagon full of "clarifying statements."
You know, usually, bringing in the Nazi/Hitler comparison loses an argument because it is a stretch.
In this case it is no stretch at all. This man is a serious threat.
I could be wrong but I doubt that McCain spent his college years hanging around "marxist professors, structural feminists and student radical activists." I doubt McCain has any history with the Weather Underground. I think McCain salutes when the national anthem is played, and I doubt he thinks he is too good to wear a flag pin on his lapel. Other than that, yeah I'm sure Obama is just another fighter pilot who repeatedly risked his life for his country.
This rant of his was not meant to be heard by small town America. He was speaking to likeminded wealthy leftists who implicitly agree with his view that America is a bad place which oppresses the simple proletariat, and they are too dispirited and demoralized to take care of it themselves.
Obama simply gave an orthodox marxist view of the state of the working class in pre-revolutionary Amerika, right down to their "opiate," religion.
Like Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro and others he is a true totalitarian, and they all are far more alike than different.
Like Obama himself, she didn't see anything wrong with what he said, so why not post it. Unlike Obama, she didn't have the sense to try to keep it in the house.
No, just like Hitler.
None of the others have a record of powerful oratory.
Whatever view Obama gave, it was not such a broad philosophical statement. It was a statement informing select supporters about a "challenge" he faces, i.e. Obama led into the "bitter" statement with this one:
"But the truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when theres not evidence of that in their daily lives."
IMHO he will try to "persuade" them by persuading small-town American "typical whites" that they are "victims". He and Rev. Wright are very experienced at this with blacks and it is only natural that he is approaching this election with that very specific strategy.
So he must have been born with a recessive liberal gene, that erupts when liberal/moderate elitist mindsets services his agenda. Give Obama 25 years and he will be as polished a stone as lord McCain. There is a deficiency some place in lord McCain's brain for him to have proclaimed that queen Hillary would make a good president.
I absolutely would not take that bet.
And you know Pres. Obama would use it as a chance to tee up the "closet Kluxers" in American society -- "you know who you are" etc.
But the truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there’s not evidence of that in their daily lives. You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
This is the money quote of the entire campaign on Obama, and thanks for putting it up -- it needs to be put up in lights.
The only question in my mind is, again, whether Obama actually believes this, or whether this caricature, too, represents his spinning his target audience, and showing them what they want to see.
This guy's like an onion. We haven't yet got to the pearl.
