Note the date of this article. Glad to see that the Feds have finally realized what I have been preaching for years. At a conservative cost of $25K a year, it is costing American taxpayers SEVEN AND A HALF TRILLION DOLLARS A YEAR to incarcerate other countries' criminals. And just think of all the AMERICAN criminals, who are roaming about the country unabated, free to commit more crimes, we could incarcerate with all that available cell space. Of course if they don't secure the borders, these criminals will be back like a bad check! The savings alone for one year would build TWO walls, one for each border!

Seven and a half “TRILLION” dollars? We should be buying all of Mexico with all that money.

Your math is a bit off... 25k * 200k = 5 billion, not trillion.

Er - Unless I’m missing something, the amount is on the order of $5 Billion a year assuming 200,000 Illegals at $25K/head/year.
But you are right, they’ll be back, not only because of the porous Border but because they are willing to commit crimes that no American wants to commit. :-)

I stand corrected! I thought the trillion sounded off.
It's been a long day.LOL
Billions, trillions...sooner or later we start talking about reeeeel money!
And the figure from the Bureau of Prisons is 300K foreign criminals are incarcerated in state & federal prisons. That doesn't even account for the number of illegals in local jails across America

Great, so now illegals get a “get out of jail for free” pass? Well, that’ll sure teach them to come here and commit crimes!

I believe ICE is deporting them to their homeland and turning them over to their homeland authorities...now of course if you would prefer to incarcerate the 300K foreign criminals instead of 300K American criminals, we can continue to do that!

now of course if you would prefer to incarcerate the 300K foreign criminals instead of 300K American criminals, we can continue to do that! If I thought that freeing up space in the prisons meant that our system would suddenly say "now that we have space we'll start giving out meaningfull sentences", then there would be something to debate. I don't think that would happen.

“meaningful sentences?”
well one things’ for sure, we’ll never incarcerate AMERICAN criminals with your “meaningful sentences” as long as our prison system is overpopulated with 300K of other countries’ criminals now will we...
But you keep throwing those softballs and I’ll keep knockin’ em out of the park.LOL
