When McCain appeared and I held my signs up, at least three men surrounded me and blocked my signs with theirs.

You failed in the marketplace of ideas, hapless fool

Tell me you are kidding, even if you aren't.

I went to a Bush event in 2004. Tickets for the event had to be requested in advance (they were free, but you had to know where to get them), and the color of your ticket determined where you were allowed to stand at the rally.

My son and I had blue tickets, which allowed us into the civilian zone closest to the president. No one was allowed to approach any closer unless they were Secret Service or police or members of the President’s entourage.

I wonder if Ms Russel realizes that if she had done this in China, Iran, Syria, Gaza, or Venezuela, she would have at the very least been imprisoned and more probably dead.

He’s lucky I wasn’t there, I would have shoved his sign up his ass.

It’s about time.
Every time I have ever tried to talk to a “Liberal”,
As soon as I voiced any opinion that differed with their worldview, I was Demonized, Marginalized and Silenced as best they could. They have even gone so far as sticking their fingers in their ears and Going Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah.
So you see Rational Debate Does not matter to a Liberal.
No point in trying to be evenhanded with them they will never reciprocate.

You had a right to your signs...You also have a responsibility to thank the military which has fought to protect your rights and freedoms...So if you are ever at another rally with your signs amd you get your ass kicked in, just consider it’s the military way of saying ‘You’re welcome’...

"Just b/c the shoe is on the other foot doesn’t make it any less shameful"

You worry about what your liberal neighbors might say about you behind your back and some of the rest of us will do whatever we are legally able to put down the enemy within.

Look, it was a McCainiac event. They're not going to do anything like that.

No doubt they will let others do it, but "others" weren't there were they?

(It's a sarcastic comment based on the proven track record of the McCainiacs to let others hit back "dirty" with "dirtier" every single time.)

My little contribution to the comments at the article:

Leftwingers such as you are all about “Free Speech,” but only if it is YOUR speech. Example: Those mean other people who wanted to have their signs seen in front of yours. How DARE they, right? Because, of course, YOUR message is so much more important and therefore deserves “more equal” (see Animal Farm) recognition. You and your fellow travelers also just can’t seem to keep from embellishing, can you? Specifically referring to the bit about having the “right” to be “close to the stage.” Because, of course, you are more important than the other people there who might want to be close to the stage, too, right? It really does reflect a complete egocentrism and arrogance that is very common on your side of the political spectrum.

They’d do the same thing to one of us.

Oh no they wouldn't. They have been much worse. When protesters have appeared at their events, they get beat up.

At this particular event ANYBODY could get close to the stage and/or the guard rails that lined the way to McCain’s bus. You didn’t have to be a campaign worker, you just had to get there early enough.

I was at this event, but I did not see or hear the particular disturbance that was mentioned in the article.

But I did hear (from the other side of the crowd) somebody loudly calling out in the middle of McCain’s speech “Out of Iraq” quite a few times. Then the heckling stopped, but I don’t know how or why.
