she went to Jeffs personally because she did not want to have sex with her husband, and was told she had no choice but to submit to her husbands will.
If that was factual and documented, then I would have to support her side of the story.
That would be wrong, no matter what marital status or age of the woman.
I was thinking about that the other day when I heard that lady speak about how her children were hurt to get her to comply. I can’t judge because I’m not in her shoes but me knowing me, the fight would have been on.
So if everyone went over Niagara Falls in a barrel, would you too?
So what if they have time on their side? Does that justify every thing?
It’s still physiologically damaging to have a baby at too early an age.
Medical science is on this side of it....

” Research indicates that health risks are higher for infants that are developing in a young body. This is because most teenage mothers bodies are still developing themselves. A teenage body is yet not ready to reproduce. When a baby is developing in a young body the space for it s growth is limited and small.”
“Young mothers, especially mothers who are under the age of 15 have high rates of delivering a premature baby, stillbirth, and low birth weight baby. This happens because from the ages 12-15 the body goes through the most changes and is developing the most. When a female is pregnant during this time it disturbs the body from doing its job. For one thing it stops women from having her monthly period.”

“Adolescent pregnancy is associated with higher rates of illness and death for both the mother and infant.
Pregnant teens are at much higher risk of dying or having serious medical complications such as toxemia, pregnancy-induced hypertension, significant anemia, premature delivery, or placenta previa.
Infants born to teens are 2 to 6 times more likely to have low birth weight than those born to mothers age 20 or older. Prematurity plays the greatest role in this, but intrauterine growth retardation (inadequate growth of the fetus during pregnancy) is also a factor.
Teen mothers are more likely to have unhealthy habits that place the infant at greater risk for inadequate growth, infection, or chemical dependence. The younger a mother is below age 20, the greater the risk of her infant dying during the first year of life.”

But don’t let the facts get in your way in your bid to support sexual abuse of minors and women. After all, you have history on your side. People have done it through out the ages, so it must be OK. /sarc for those who need it.
I posted the average marriage ages for America from before our nation existed in post 187, it is time for you to back off some of the nonsense that you are spouting about puberty and marriage.
Um no. FLDS maintains it’s socially isolated community so it can abuse women and children. And the Amish aren’t isolated in out of the way compounds either. They’re spread throughout the country side, living their lives in full view of others.
It depends on what you want for documented? It is, in fact, in the court records as part of her testimony, and the jury used it as a basis for the conviction of Jeffs.
Now did the church document the conversation? Nope.
Of course that isn’t much of a surprise given the fact that this is a church that regularly held the wedding ceremonies not in their church in front of the congregation, but in a small hotel room rented solely for the ceremony, with only a couple of witnesses. I was actually quite surprised to hear they were conducting the ceremonies in the temple after moving to Texas.

Thanks, I was wondering if I was the only sane Freeper talking tonight.
Of course this is not something that I approve of, but I am much more worried about a government defining what a marriage is.
Someday, if you are not Gay or Lesbian, you could be arrested for violation of marriage the laws! Legally, any sex between a male and female could be classified as rape.
Always ask a simple question: How could the government abuse this?
I didn’t say physically isolated. Muslims in the inner city live in socially isolated communities as well. Invite that nice Amish family next door to your kid’s Bar mitzvah and see if they come. Or have their kids over for a “play date” and see if you get a return phone call (assuming Amish have phones which they don’t).
Orthodox slavs don’t interest me, especially when there are no numbers.
American history and American culture are at issue here and the average marrying age for females for at least the last 300 years was never below about age 22.
Like you, I never want to see another Waco or Ruby Ridge.
If you read further in the article, you would see that consummation was not assumed to immediately follow these early teen marriages. Note also that these 12-13 year old girls were generally married to 15-16 year old boys, not 50 years olds.
“I wonder how many of the Freepers here were cheering in 1993 when the Feds raided the Branch Davidian compound in the name of saving the women and children from their sex pervert leader. I know I was. The main-stream media had misdirected my young mind and I was all for the FBI and ATF.”
You don’t seem to much about your fellow freepers, if you think that we were on the same side as you and Bill Clinton during Waco and Ruby Ridge.
Just as we disagree with you on this perversion that you defend so heartily and have been, going back a year as shown in post 150.
Oh hush, do not confuse people with the facts!
I didn’t pay much more than a curious notice until I saw that it was on fire. Horror. Regardless of the outcome I’m glad this happened without harm. It could have ended differently, even in the best of circumstances if they had decided to lock themselves in and die fighting though.

By the time the women begin to question polygamy, it’s often too late because they have children to think about. Women are expected to bear a child each year, and girls marry as young as 9, although most are not pressured into marriage until they pass puberty.
When Sylvia was 12, her father took Vera, 14, as his second wife. “My mom would walk past the two of them French kissing on the couch,” Sylvia says. “The rest of the time, Mom had to teach Vera home skills like another child. Then Vera had a son right away.” Often, jealous older wives make life hell for their sister-wives.
Is there love involved? Sometimes, but generally girls obediently marry men chosen for them. “I could never fall in love with my sister’s husband, and I felt guilty for sleeping with him,” says Rowenna. She shared a husband with her older sister and bore eight children, telling the kids their father was a truck driver who spent a lot of time on the road. “In my life, I’ve never known love with someone of the opposite sex.” It wasn’t easy for Rowenna’s sister, either. “Her spirit had been broken. Just like a horse, they broke her.”

My sister’s husband married a 12-year-old girl. Another 17-year-old girl is being refused a hysterectomy she needs for medical reasons. Her husband told her she had to produce at least three more children for him. This place is like a mixture of the Taliban and the Mafia. It runs on intimidation, ignorance of the outside world and fear.”

This is a double edge sword but it is very clear what happen here were women and children were being held against their will.
I know your fear with government intrusion but what was going on here was a few was controlling the lives of many.
It is called unrighteous dominion over others this is not Arabia!
If it was not for out side labors that had a cell phone none of this would have been known.
There was no volunteering in this place it was coerced or those who rebel got lashes.
A few years back Dr Phi did a program on this rogue organization and some thing was done they got the leader but somehow this place was not investigated.
Sad but some of those women fought the law to stay out for what reason be they had power among the group or were afraid etc who knows?
Dr Phil
Dr. Phil delves further inside a controversial polygamous community where girls as young as 14 are reportedly forced to marry older men who have multiple wives, and young boys are forced to leave town.

Inside the World of Polygamy
Last year ‘Hannity’s America’ gave you a rare and shocking look inside Warren Jeffs’ secretive Eldorado, Texas compound, where Monday hundreds were taken and an arrest made
