Students at that age do a myriad of stupid things in different areas. Just because his stupid thing was in a politically sensitive area means he gets suspended while others get a warning.

No one was hurt. No one died. And unless there is some student uniform policy, it isn't apparently clear that any written rules were broken.

If you don’t have a dress code, however, I don’t see why a most severe penalty can be given to a student who didn’t break an actual written rule, much less get arrested.

I can’t dispute what you say... the article just doesn’t give us enough information to know one way or the other. Journalism is getting sloppier and sloppier. This bit of writing leaves way too many obvious questions unanswered.

Do they give the same treatment to black kids wearing malcom X garb?

    Good Lord. What is this 1992? Malcom X was a while back and I doubt that kids are wearing that stuff anymore. It was a short phase.
