FWIW, World Net Daily ( I know, I know )is reporting just the opposite in Basra
One well-paced military source told G2 Bulletin the initial fight over the Iraqi town went like this: "We lost Basra last night. An Iraqi army commander was told by the local Madhi army commander to lay down all their weapons, surrender all their uniforms, surrender their equipment and then there would be no trouble. The Iraqi army did just that."

It was reported that Iraqi Police did that, not forces.
We’ll see, Mookie’s guys are about to go greasy.
Good riddance and high time.

Bill Roggio says that’s not true.

Some Iraqi cops defected or deserted, but not the army.
I think if al Sadr had really won in Basra, he wouldn’t be asking for a truce.
Besides, Maliki now has men like the ones in the video I posted.
Can you imagine those guys in their gun trucks surrendering to the drugged-up, undisciplined slobs of the Madhi Army?
Man, I really hate anonymous sources now. Maybe World Net Daily spoke to a well-placed cook or mechanic in the maintenance pool.
“Game over, man! That’s it! Game over! We’re doooooomed!”

Wow - the Iraqi troops got trained well!
Another milestone - another example of what the strategy is - train ‘em up so’s they can do the heavy lifting...

According to al-Jazeera, American and Iraqi forces were attacking an unoccupied baby food factory, an orphanage, and a group of unarmed women praying in the local mosque.

Ive never seen a Hummer with that many guns mounted on it. Anybody know if that is one of our creations or the Iraqis? The video title says Special Forces in parenthesis and I saw towards the end a 50 caliber Ma-deuce mounted on a HMMV which I've never seen before, as well as the mini gun somewhere, and an M-60 which may be being phased out. This tells me it is indeed a special forces team with access to specialized weapons with assistance of the Iraqi Army.

There's a bunch of GAU minigun videos on YouTube.
This video was the best one I found.

I really think a lot of people don’t get what “surrender” means.
Since they have “negotiated” for a handful of soldiers to be arrested, and Sadr himself is and will remain free, there is no surrender.
Doesn’t diminish what our soldiers do, but our leaders seem more concerned with soundbites than victory, and surrender sounds a lot better than “withdrawing from an unwinnable situation to rearm, regroup and attack again later”.

Yes.........The USA Military does know a joke when it sees one..........a la, “cease fire”...........Let them roll with the horrible punch THAT militia is delivering to our boys.........now that they've backed up the Iragi Army.
