And I think White America would be wise to understand this anger and outrage and acknowledge that it is not without justification.
It is shocking--and astonishing!--to all of us that Americans only a few generations ago actually approved of slavery! That the Tuskeegee Experiment was not terminated until the 1970s! That de jure racial segregation existed within recent memory! And that racism exists even today!
Jeremiah Wright's outrages are no more shocking and astonishing than are these outrages.
The outrage of such things does not seem to have penetrated significant parts of White America--and this can only be expected to intensify the rage and outrage, not only of Black America but of all people who do understand it.
Oprah Winfrey, to her credit, has applied her genius to enlightening all of America (including White and Black) to the reality of all this. She has done it expertly. All Americans have good reason to be grateful to her.
The horrors of racism and of the past should shock all of us and do shock most of us.
However, guilt--like pain, of which it is a form--is self-defeating except as a stimulus to correct.
White America should take Jeremiah Wright's rage to heart and learn from it.
The absurdities of his ravings--e.g. blaming the U.S. government for 9/11 and for developing and releasing the AIDS virus as a means of Black genocide--may be excused as the delusions of a mind overwhelmed by rage. However, no responsible person--let alone a candidate for the Presidency of the United States--could afford to follow--or recommend--anyone whose mind is so deluded.
It is my understanding that Oprah Winfrey refused to acquiesce to Jeremiah Wright's deluded leadership. If so, this too is to her credit.
Obviously--the American people cannot afford to elect to the most powerful office in the nation a man who not only acquiesced to such lunacy but has until just now recommended and even lauded someone so deluded and so filled with rage and outrage against the very nation he presumes to lead--and overlooking the equally irrefutable facts that this very nation--guided by the principles upon which its existence rests--did terminate, repudiate, and correct the horrible mistakes of the past--and, furthermore, empower beyond the imagination of previous generations the very peoples toward whom it had tolerated injustice.
In my opinion, Barak Obama is not qualified for the U.S. Presidency because of his political opinions, designs on America, bad judgment, questionable honesty, commitment to Leftist decadence, and belonging to the Democrat Party, which in my opinion in a political party of depravity, Marxism, decadence, dishonesty, and corruption. However, I do understand the rage and outrage of Black America, and I do not consider that in itself to be a disqualifier.
Michelle Obama has obviously not missed a single sermon. Her attitudes reflect everything Wright stands for.
That WILL hurt him with the majority of voters in the meaty middle section of this country. And the top people at the DNC must see this obvious fact
But the media says he weathered the storm- how can that be???
LOL!
This issue has nothing to do with religion, or race, it has everything to do with politics.
but the good thing is Barry (No Peace be upon his unmentionable middle name...) continues to look and sound more ridiculous every day...giving prevarication a new poster (boy) oops.
Sounds like bullshit to me.
Just highlights his lack of JUDGEMENT and hypocrisy. It doesn't take TWENTY YEARS to move on from an ungodly church.
Yes, Michelle’s remarks are about as nutty as Jeremiah’s. It stretches credulity past the breaking point to assert that Obama’s wife and mentor have opinions much different from his. The proverbial snowball in hell has a better chance of remaining frozen than Barak has of being elected to the U.S. Presidency.
Anyone who could actually listen to this ranting moron (nearly) every week for 20 years is unfit to be elected to the county waste management board...... never mind POTUS. This drivel is deranged.
And yet, when Clinton said she would have left the church, the media said it was crayyyyyzyyyy. Oy.
He should still leave it and should have done so a long time ago.
