I have not seen enough information regarding the dad to pass judgement on him. I read why he was in, but I remember this line from a criminal defense attorney, and I paraphrase, “Never let yourself be tried in criminal court. Whether you are found innocent or guilty will have nothing whatsoever with whether you are innocent or guilty.”
IOW, I don’t know enough about the guy from anything I’ve read to “judge” him, nor will I.
It's not like he is going to be a jail jumper especially with the press attention.
Maybe we could pass a law that would not only put meth dealers in jail, but their children as well. And then, when someone said that wasn’t fair, we could say, “Well maybe the meth dealer should have thought of that first. Actions have consequences!”
The kids are not in the country illegally. They are as legal as this little girl.
You're right, they're not dying, and yet, you want to send them to a place where their chances of dying increase dramatically, and their chance to have a good life is nearly zero. you want to send them to hell.
AND to top it all off................you don't want to do it to just one...............oh no! ............you want to do it to MILIONS.
How cruel, never thought I'd see the day.
Bottom line: too bad.
Does it suck? Yes, from the little girl’s point of view, it sure does.
From Dad’s point of view, what could he have done to prevent his daughter’s pain?
If you would take the time to think about it, you would be able to do so.
Be careful how you empower our keepers. Pretty soon, you may find yourself "kept".
Choices have consequences.
In this situation, Dad’s choices have consequences for him and his daughter.
That’s what we used to call the deterrent factor.
Would you think him a better man if he didn't even try to get out to be there when she died?
Apparently drama was one of your majors. I hope you stuck with the other.
For the record, when a child is born here to illegal parents, I am torn on that. I wish there could be some sort of a litmus that showed that the parents were really willing to be Americans, that would help a lot. Unfortunately that's obviously not the case. I don't have a pat answer for that one.
Well, to be honest, where I come from, cheeseburgers are somewhat less lethal than meth, so I can’t quite see what you’re getting at.
However, I’m clearly obtuse and would welcome clarification.
So seriously, you feel decent about yourself knowing that a man who is only months away from being released cannot be by his dying child’s side when that’s what she wants? Honest to God, think about that before you knee jerk.
He’s been sentenced.
Any attempt to subvert that sentence is illegitimate.
Sick no, dying yes. It's a small mercy they extended him. With any luck he'll reflect on this a lot.
You raise valid points.
Did the perp ever consider any of your valid points before he decided to involve himself in one of the worst drug trades known to man?
Because there’s no evidence that he did.
Bottom line: his little girl is dying. Too bad. He shoulda thought about that possibility before he commmitted an act removing himself from her.
That’s the bureaucratic answer. If the day ever comes that you have to choose between allegiance to the state and it’s bureaucracy and your family, will you choose differently than he did?
Do you think the little girl should pay for what he did?
If this consequence of my allegiance is legitimate and foreseeable?
Depends.
My opinion doesn’t matter.
I’m interested in his opinion, since likely he thought ruining lives that didn’t belong to his children was okay.
Wow, you’re opinion doesn’t matter? ROTFL. This threads begs to differ.
She loves the guy, and has no understanding of why others do not.
Precisely my view. It seem to me that some of the posters on this tread are either, blockheads, or have a chip on their shoulders, to comprehend, that it is not about this guy, but the last wish of a dying child.
