Amnesty International was active in the then Rhodesia, as it declared it's self to be independent of Gt Britain. Amnesty International were in that country one year later in 1966. Finally three of their observers were forced to leave.

They had boasted 550 persons were on their watch as being politically intimidated by the Smith regime. They finally got what they had agitated for. It was not a gradual transition to power of "one man, one vote". It was sudden and quick.

Today if still with us, one can imagine the agitators. A neat, nice comfortable existence. Certainly a long way from Zimbabwe. Maybe even the garden and white picket fence. All the amenities of Western culture (whats left of it).

I know! "It was Smiff, Smiff (Smith)- 'e was the cause". (Sarcasm on).

“NY Times promoted him too.”

All the MSM promoted him and praised him. Now there is an Orwellian silence about what is going on in Zimbabwe.

As someone who’s lived in Africa previously, I can tell you that we shouldn’t expect Robert Mugabe to leave power gracefully. He’s another Idi Amin and he’ll have to be overthrown. Yet in a strange way, he’s probably been good for other parts of Africa - particularly South Africa - to see what happens when a black-run country turns into a bloodthirsty dictatorship. Mugabe is one of the skunks of the world.
