By any measure, Spitzer engaged in reckless conduct. His career is toast.

It’s called arrogance. They think they are too smart to get caught.

This is awful close to the clinical definition of a psychopath.

A nanometer away, in the case of Spitler.

But the allegations about Spitzer, he said, were the most shocking, if only because there was no public hint of such behavior from the governor, who campaigned as a model of moral rectitude. What's wrong with all of these clueless people who are shocked, just shocked that an arrogant, authoritarian statist like Spitzer could or would commit criminal acts? His entire career has been predicated on the conceit that he himself was the law, and that winning was the only thing that mattered. Spitzer's modus operandi was little different from that of other leaders of organized criminal enterprises. His Soviet-style iron-fisted approach to governing, unconstrained by right or wrong but merely an expression of his own lust for power, was emblematic of his contempt for the written law. No surprises here...

Spitzer can spend the next 20 years of daddy’s money in therapy figuring out this great mystery.

Spitzer summed it up nicely in his most famous quote...
“Listen! I’m a f***ing steamroller! And I’ll steamroll over you and anyone else!”
