I respectfully disagree with Mr. Bozell
I think this guy hit it on the head. The most important thing for me with children is not that John McCain is the most conservative man in the race ... he is not. But he is the most committed to defending this country from our number one threat, radical Islam.
He gets that right ... and compared to Hillbama ... thats good enough for me to vote for him.
This reminds me of the record companies suing their customers and somehow expecting it to increase business...
Just blind denial of the real world.
LOL
Wow, a popcorn reference. No one has thought of posting that yet.
The money quote:
“Retaining the Department of Education is a small price to pay for avoiding a federal takeover of the health care system.”
He says he is committed to defeating radical Islam. But, until he supports securing the border and drilling domestically to decrease our dependence on oil from terrorist-sponsoring states, he's just a lot of talk and little action.
Some of us don’t think he won it “fair and square.”
And to have it put like Bozell puts it feels a little like blackmail: “Take whatever I choose to give you or I will turn you over to radical Islam.”
>>In this context, frustration over the inability or unwillingness of post-Reagan Republican presidents to push for everything conservatives wanted is, or should be, beside the point.<<
Yawn. Another “conservatives demand 100% agreement” argument. In fact, most conservatives don’t expect 100%. I just demand a candidate who puts his own country’s interests above Mexico’s interests, but I suppose that’s too much to ask.
I can understand conservatives holding their noses, but we strict-constructionists are an unforgiving bunch...lucky for you Republicans, though, the loss of my vote will be made up many fold by less-than-wacky-left-wing-liberals. Bood luck.
Good Luck, I mean :{)
Attacking people for "impurities" is what our former Senator Rick Santorum had to put up with in 2006 from supposed conservatives for voting against legalizing rabbit hunting with AK-47's and the equivalent.
McCain is still welcome to do something to earn my vote and take away the repeated stench of consistently and repeatedly p***ing on conservatives-- McCain-Feingold and McCain-Kennedy just being two of the more extreme examples.
"The other party is so much worse" excuse just ain't reason enough to support McCain.
He says he is committed to defeating radical Islam. But, until he supports securing the border and drilling domestically to decrease our dependence on oil from terrorist-sponsoring states, he’s just a lot of talk and little action.
Do you know how McCain has voted on drilling for oil in Alaska?
Nufsed.
McCain is opposed to domestic cultivation of oil resources, including drilling in the ANWR.
Yep. I noticed that this “rebuttal article” to Mr. Bozell’s very fine article - didn’t even try to defend McCain’s stance on amnesty and leaving our borders unsecured. This is every bit as important as the War on Terror in the middle east.
