We think often about Dominique. She is a hallmark of courage, and an example of how we should live. We look to saints for the inspiration she radiates. An amazing thing is how one can pose any question at all to her and she has the precise answer from the Bible to quote for it.
She carried me a number of times when I was too week to stand.

I'd like to thank Sen. Scott Brown, R-Wrentham, for his leadership in addressing a serious issue in the aftermath of a terrible tragedy.
In early 2007, following the controversy of the Haleigh Poutre case, I contacted his office to ask that he file legislation to prevent those who had injured a person from serving as that person's health care proxy.
The Poutre case highlighted this important issue because the foster father of the girl was accused of inflicting the injuries that incapacitated her, and subsequently started legal action to be allowed to make health care decisions for her.
His interest was suspected to be in keeping Haleigh alive to avoid a murder charge, but in other circumstances an abuser might want to "finish the job" by having the health care facility withdraw treatments.
In short, it is axiomatic that health care professionals cannot trust that an abuser would consider his or her victim's interests or desires as paramount...........

.- As the last major primary state for the Democratic Party presidential contest and a contested state in the general election, Pennsylvania Catholics could play a key role in determining the presidential race.
The Bulletin reports that there are nearly 3.8 million Catholics in the state, 31 percent of the total population.

In none of the endless presidential candidates' debates has there been a meaningful discussion of the rights of disabled Americans. However, in the Feb. 26 debate in Cleveland, Barack Obama casually and ignorantly revealed his misunderstanding of the basic issue in the highly visible and still-resonating official death sentence of a disabled woman, Terri Schiavo. I repeatedly have called her death the result of "the longest public execution in American history."
When moderator Tim Russert asked Hillary Clinton and Obama if "there are any words or votes that you'd like to take back ... in your careers in public service," Obama answered that in his first year in the Senate, he joined an agreement "that allowed Congress to interject itself (in the Schiavo case) into the decision-making process of the families."
Obama added: 'I think that was a mistake, and I think the American people understood that was a mistake. And as a constitutional law professor, I knew better."...................

From Dan Rather's credible reporting about President Bush's National Guard service prior to the November 2004 election, to writing a prewritten story about Terri Schiavo's death, CBS has proved to be America's most credible news service.
Most Americans, by now, are familiar with the Terri Schiavo story.
The story of Terri is heart-breaking. In 1990, doctors claim Terri suffered a heart-attack causing her to collapse for minutes without oxygen getting to her brain. As a result, Terri has been perceived by many to be in a "permanent vegetative state."
For 15 years, Terri's husband Michael and her parents Bob and Mary Schindler have been involved in legal battles concerning Terri.
On March 18, 2005 Terri Schiavo's feeding tube, which sustained her life for 15 years, was removed. As of this writing, Terri Schiavo has been without her feeding tube for approximately 12 days...................

Teenagers should be given the right to medically assisted suicide and the parents of terminally ill younger children should be able to choose euthanasia under proposals from members of Belgium's coalition government.
The plans to extend rules allowing doctors to perform euthanasia on terminally ill people suffering "constant and unbearable physical or psychological pain" comes amid heated Belgian debate on the issue......

Feelings about Nancy Grace aside, this story of how an 11-year-old Wisconsin girl slipped into a diabetic coma and died because her parents sat around praying rather than seeking medical attention for her--as relatives had been begging them to do for weeks--is horrifying. Though the parents insist they don't regard themselves as religious, they also note that laying on of hands is their preferred method of healing in general.
With apologies to similar believers everywhere, my first reaction to this is, Wow, these people are some kind of crazy. My second reaction: time to consider a little court-negotiated sterilization.....

......With news items like these over the last two weeks, it would be easy to be discouraged about the advancement of the right to life both here and abroad. Certainly, we all know that pro-abortion groups and their sympathizers need to have their reality checked but they would rather continue on their merry way denying the facts.
But for the rest of us who are not living in a warped fairy-tale, its clear that all of the pro-abortion policies in the world have not fixed any of the problems we face today............

TAMPA, FL, March 27, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Targeted immune suppression using human umbilical cord blood cells may improve the pathology associated with Alzheimer's disease, a new study in a mouse model of this currently untreatable neurodegenerative condition reports. The study, led by researchers at the University of South Florida, is published online in the peer-reviewed journal Stem Cells and Development (http://www.liebertpub.com/scd).
Following a series of low-dose infusions of human umbilical cord blood cells into mice with Alzheimer's-like disease, the amount of amyloid-ß and ß-amyloid plaques - hallmarks of Alzheimer's pathology in the brain - was reduced 62 percent. Amyloid-ß induces an inflammatory response in the brain associated with the interaction of CD40 and CD40L, two pro-inflammatory molecules. Researchers also reported an astonishing 86-percent improvement in cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), another hallmark of Alzheimer's disease. CAA compromises the integrity of the blood-brain barrier, disrupting normal trafficking of various molecules and cells from and to the brain and is believed to be the main culprit for the brain inflammation observed in Alzheimer's....

Chuck Schumer planned the scheme to have so-called pro-life Dems run against Republicans so the Dems could control Congress, and it worked.
Voters are so naive.
Thats why I call talk shows and write editors letters to let as many people as I can, know what candidates stand for.

All my life it was drummed into me we are a land of laws and we must obey, the presumption that the law is always right and just superseding reason. The courts show here how far we have come without even realizing it.
The law is the law, don't we know. Judges make the law and decide what the rest of us are to accept. Perhaps our Founding Fathers thought the Judiciary would be held in check by our system of balances, but not these days, the Judiciary is more equal than the the other balances.
Three years ago today, the atmosphere at Pinellas Park was solemn and hollow. Poor Terri had defied them all by proving to be incredibly healthy and strong, holding out for 12 days without a single drop of water, a feat few of us could muster, but she was weakening. Our hopes for her here on earth were dashed by the system of the courts, establishing for any still not realizing, they control, and if an innocent life may be sacrificed to prove it, well, it is the law.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Infamous euthanasia activist Dr. Jack Kevorkian has announced that he plans to run for U.S. Congress as an independent in Michigan’s 9th congressional district.
"We need some honesty and sincerity instead of corrupt government in Washington," Kevorkian told the Oakland Press, his local Michigan newspaper.
In order to be placed on the ballot, Kevorkian will need to obtain 3,000 signatures.
Nicknamed Doctor Death for his boast of helping at least 130 people - many of whom had no diagnosed physical illness, - to kill themselves, Kevorkian was released from jail last year after serving eight years of his 10-25 year sentence for the murder of 52-year-old Thomas Youk.
