Alan Lowenthal seems to be from the Harry Bridges wing of the party. In addition to being a big ILWU supporter, he authored Arnold’s Workers Comp reform legislation. It makes ya wonder what that was all about.
It would be just like him.
>are you joking? The communists couldnt overthrow a rural post office these days.<
The problem is the terms you are using. Think progressive, socialist, and liberals. Now do you understand how powerful they are?
They are all communists, just that they these days they prefer to be called by different names. “Communists” is rude.
Arnold went past “moderate” long ago. He’s been in left field for quite some time now.

yes, but this law repealed a ban on the “old school” style communists holding jobs in the school system. I would say that is unconstitutional on the face of it-—a person who believes in Marxist-Leninism is not inherently dangerous. Sure it is an unorthodox, even rather stupid (as history has proved) belief but the state has no right to step in the way of any person simply for unorthodox beliefs. That is a slippery slope on the road to tyranny.
Actually planning violent action in support of political aims, however, is a different story altogether.
“Russia will spread her errors around the world” — from a Catholic prophecy.
SB 1322 would delete the requirement that an individual or organization wanting to use the school property is not a Communist action organization or Communist front organization.
This bill would also strike the law that a public school or community college employee may be fired if he or she is a member of the Communist Party,
In my opinion, the state cannot play favorites in who it allows state jobs or resources to because of political belief. That is inherently unconstitutional.
Being a member of the Communist Party goes beyond "political belief." Do you think teachers who become members of the (phantom) "Friends of Al-Qaeda" should also be able to teach children and use taxpayer funded public-property for their meetings?
