Howie’s Sunday Herald column
Judges earn contempt, not salary hikes
By Howie Carr | Sunday, March 2, 2008 | http://www.bostonherald.com
Judge Richard Moses, the perverts pal, needs a pay raise.
Believe it or not, the greed-crazed limousine liberals of the Mass. Judges Conference are rattling their tin cups yet again. They are lobbying to jack up their base salary to $162,000, an increase from the current $129,694 a year that trial judges get. A 25 percent pay raise is bad enough, and even more outrageous is that down the road it would add more than two grand a month extra to their already bloated pensions.
You think its easy cutting loose Level 3 child molesters and bathroom stalkers and man-rapists day after day after day? Its a tough job - just ask Corey Saunders, David Flavell and Kenneth Stone. Theyd tell you, Judge Moses is doing a hell of a job.
The shrill timing of these black-robed knaves is a little off, what with Judge Moses, a former ACLU employee and contributor to Barney Frank and George Rogers, on an apparent one-man crusade to release every skinner and Peeping Tom who comes to his courtroom.
Its a great job, being a judge. All you have to do is scrape up a few grand, send it to the right politicians, and pretty soon you, too, can be screaming at prosecutors to shut up while youre blowing wet kisses from the bench to whatever tattooed diddler or flasher is appearing in front of you.
And now one of those traditional blue-ribbon panels is considering whether to recommend higher salaries for state judges. What suspense. Whatever will they decide to do? When was the last time a blue-ribbon panel recommended anything other than a pay raise, or a toll hike?
This bunch of blue-ribbons held their final hearing in Worcester last month, the day after the primary. I had no idea such a panel existed until I stumbled across a story in the Worcester paper. The reporter dryly noted that despite the allegedly public nature of the hearing, members of the public were not in attendance last night.
The Mass. Judges Conference somehow heard about the hearing, though. Isnt that the same crew of payroll Charlies who were once scheming to railroad through yet another pay hike, and after the secret confab broke up, one of the hack jurists, a crony of a felon named Tommy Taxes, got bagged for OUI out on Route 128?
Several testifying last night, the paper reported, said the $160,000 starting salary for rookie lawyers at larger Boston law firms is higher than the highest-paid judges salary. Theres a simple solution to that alleged problem. The judges who consider themselves underpaid should apply to become rookie lawyers.
The arrogance of these pompous layabout judges is astounding. In addition to the obscene pay hikes, some of them are demanding Taj Mahal courthouses. They want marble palaces, they want the registries of deeds evicted, they want . . . private bathrooms.
Who do they think they are, Mayor David Cohen of Newton? The difference is, Cohen will someday have to answer to the voters for his white elephant $200 million and counting high school.
A suck-up lawyer from Fitchburg said: Salary is a major stumbling block. Ive heard them say, I have two kids in college and My wife is no longer working. I cant afford to do that.
I repeat: If they cant afford to take jobs that pay $129,694 for 37 weeks of work a year, then they should quit. They can go back to starving to death in private practice, chasing ambulances, joining the Kiwanis Club and printing up business cards that say Reasonable doubt at a reasonable price. Ill bet we could find some rookie lawyer whod be willing to try to scrape by on $129,694 a year.
The judges figure they have a pay raise coming this year because the district attorneys just got a hike, up to around $148,000. Is it possible the Legislature wanted to give more money to the people trying to keep the sex offenders behind bars, like the prosecutors, rather than to the black-robed scum who keep cutting the monsters loose to rape again and again.
It is unfair, the lawyer added, the manner in which we pay them. We live in a society that is unfair to a lot of people but its horrible to disregard the public interest.
But releasing rapists and buying judgeships with contributions - thats in the public interest?
And now the judges howl for still more dough. They should run a public-relations campaign. And I have just the poster boy for them.
Judge Moses, come on down!

LOL! I've worked for some big law firms -- the rookie lawyers who want to keep their jobs are frequently working from about 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. or so (and not infrequently all night!), including Saturdays and/or Sundays! Ever wonder why so many lawyers want to be judges??? And so few judges want to go back to being lawyers???
Is it my imagination or has Howie had even more columns skewering the MA judiciary since his recent up close and personal experience with the court system? ;-)
Yes and Howie has spent more time on air talking about corrupt, senile, hack judges. Remember not too long ago when there was a push to pass a bill that would outlaw talking on cell phones in your car unless you used a handset/spkrpohone—oh, but there would be exceptions, like to police and other officials? (This bit is being used on ‘RKO as part of a promo.)
Howie: “Oh,
what a surprise that they made that exception. How about making an exception for drunken JUDGES? How about drunken,
corrupt, SENILE judges in Massachusetts—are there any other kind in Massachusetts? No I didn’t think so..”
And then the following week guess what happens: a drunken
judge from MA makes the news: Robert “Roberta” Somma of
Newbury, who tiptoed through the tulips up to Manchester NH,
got smashed at a gay bar, then got into a fender bender.
There’s your drunken judge, people...but sadly for “Roberta”
he got pinched not in Manchester (by the Sea), MA but in
Manchester NH...so no slap on the wrist, necessarily—
and thankfully for us, and our desire for entertainment,
the Union Leader mentions him having a purse...and other
female attire...Now he’s gonna resign!
So there’s your typical hack hire, drunken judge from MA
making the news, right after Howie went on air to talk
about drunken judges! And yes, Howie took particular delight in getting that story to us!
I hope Howie's pretty confident no one else is going to sue him -- or the judge will figure out a way to jail him on a civil complaint! After all, this is MA -- we don't need no stinkin' Constitution! ;-)
Howie nails it again! He knows the workings of this state in and out, the guy is amazing with the knowledge he possesses. If you haven’t read his book, it’s a MUST read, all the fine details about corruption in MA. No wonder Whitey et al wanted to fill a basketball with C4 explosives.....! Rock on Howie!

It's GOOD that somebody takes delight in their work!hehehe
Howie mentioned that thoughts and prayers go out to the family of his WEEI colleague Glenn Ordway. Glenn’s wife Sarah gave birth to baby Mia last week but there were complications and
Sarah and Mia are both in poor health at this time; Glenn is taking time off to be with his family. The station’s Whiney
Awards are postponed, etc. Details at http://www.bostonradiowatch.com and the WEEI site.
Around Christmas, I was at a party, and people were talking about the fines the Feds were imposing for breaking the speed limit on some trails. People were zipping along at 75-90mph.
I read some article a few years back about snowmobiles. At one time, there were about 150 manufactures. Now, there are like 5.
And the horsepower on some of them is 100+ more than my car.
Not all commercials, either. Some news too.
They have satellite problems? Maybe the time of year—I know in the fall sometimes there are glitches a few weeks after the equinox (in our case, we’re a couple weeks before the equinox). The baseball playoffs would be on and sometimes radio stations would lose the signal (and go to a temp.
phone feed) and also some TV signals would do the same...
Tonight WTKK 96.9 has local talk with Michelle McPhee (7-10 pm) then they
will, for one night, pre-empt Laura Ingraham (which they run on a 13 hour tape delay) for live election coverage with the Great One, Mark Levin (Men In Black, and a syndicated show. Get off the phone you big jerk!)
Not sure what WRKO is doingmaybe Jerry Doyle, tape delayed from 3-6 pm? What do you expect from Colon Cleanser Radio.
Yes, it happens a couple of times a year, when the receiving dish, the sat, and the Sun are in direct alignment, and lasts for a few minutes.
yup re: satellites & dishes, etc.!

Interesting...
Last year I wanted to TiVo that on my direct TV receiver.
I have Starry Night Pro 5.0, and can get the satellite ephemeris (which for a geostationary satellite are really “permaneris”) from the help menu on the receiver and then find out when the sun crosses. Should be a fun experiment.
I once spent some time looking at an S-Band radar A-Scope display for an increase in noise in the morning as it scanned in the direction of the sun, but have to admit that I was disappointed.
Before Christmas, I got into a discussion about the Star of Bethlehem, and ...satellites were appearing in what the date was, 3BC?
Any way, I came across the menu option to make satellites "historical" as well, or I think that's what the option was for.
I would have thought that would be the default.
Isn't the Sun (and Jupiter, as well) "noisiest" at ~20.5Mhz, give or take?

This woman caller can’t appreciate that Hillary Clinton is just not a nice human being, is intolerable, and wants to turn the US into a Stalinist Hell hole.
Yeah, I noticed satellites winking in and out over Babylon in 136 BC. Never let it bother me. Didn’t know about the “historical” options.
You can go to guides, az/el and click on grid, and presto, you get an az/el grid. Then go to guides, and one of them (Solar System, I think) and click on ecliptic and you get the ecliptic. Then zoom in on the location of the satellite, let time fly by in one minute chunks and sooner or later the sun should fly by. (The sun will never come any closer than the ecliptic does to your satellite.)
Not sure about solar/Jovian spectrum, as Casey Stengel used to say, you can look it up.
