The Driver of the 15 is John Menard’s son Paul MenardI am so happy to see that...I hope he does well. There was something about his father that reminded me of the days when you could enter something like the STP turbine (the name "sidewinder" comes to mind?) in the Indy 500 back in the '60's. It was much a more entrepreneur-friendly (less formulaic) era, it seems to me. When the IRL was foisted upon the American Open-wheel scene there was a brief glimpse of that, it seems to me. Remember that most cars were of the overhead cam type, but they did allow cars with different configurations into the Indy 500...the pushrods were allowed more boost, I remember that. Menard went that route and grabbed himself some poles, if memory serves.

Sure didn’t look like the pit crew’s fault, but Nutscar better be really careful here...they just set a precedent to allow the use of video tape replay to assess penalties!! There have been other incidents with cars missing the committment cone on pit entry and the like where the penalty was assessed, the video showed otherwise and NO CHANGE was made!
I think they did the right thing, but now, crew chiefs will be looking at the tape and calling for a decision upon further review. RED FLAGS will be thrown on the track to call a video review!!
