France has always been a deeply anti-semitic country, even before the influx of Islamists.
There have been crimes, murders, setting on fire, brutal beatings, of Jewish young people in the very recent past. Since Sarko became President, these incidents are down 30%.
If you read through the entire article, you will see the plan is being contested by Secularists. “In a speech praising faith that also drew fire from secularists, Sarkozy told France’s Jewish community on Wednesday that every 10-year-old schoolchild should be “entrusted with the memory of a French child victim of the Holocaust”.
The proposal unleashed a storm of protest from teachers, psychologists and his political foes who said it would unfairly burden children with the guilt of previous generations and some could be traumatized by identifying with a Holocaust victim.
More than 11,100 French Jewish children were deported from France to Auschwitz and other Nazi death camps in eastern Europe during the German World War Two occupation.”
Imagine the uproar if “The Diary of Anne Frank” became required reading.
“”Really this president is extraordinary! One day he is preaching God to us ... Now he has suddenly become a teacher. He is deciding what’s a good and what’s a bad way to go about educating young children,” fumed left-wing Senator Jean-Luc Melenchon.”
This tells me all I need to know. Go, Sarko!
I had an interesting discussion with a young french woman recently, aged in her late twenties, migrant to Australia; I asked her what she thought of Sarkozy and his recent marriage.
Her reply astounded me. She said there had been far too much publicity. In previous governments, when the press was more restricted, even though (for example) it was known Mitterand had a mistress, nothing public was written.
Ah, says I, you believe in censorship do you?
Yes, she replied, a strong government should have control of the press.
And what did you learn about WW2, I asked...
Oh, the teacher read us excerpts from Mein Kampf, and told us what a mad man hitler was.
And you were satisfied with that? Did you ever try to read the entire book yourself?
That’s impossible! she replied. Mein Kampf is banned in France, no one is allowed to have a copy!
I’ll lend you mine, I said.
What? You are allowed to have that book in Australia?
Yes, we are. Because we don’t have censorship, I replied.
Does that give you some idea of what Sarkozy is fighting against?
‘I think its a good idea. They are trying to wipe the memory of the Holocaust out in Europe. They dont have to stew in it, but an exercise like this would be good for kids. Teach them how to show empathy.’
I agree...this will help in their understanding or empathy.
Loons don’t live under rocks. France has always hid from the truth of its real conduct under German rule.
My guess, too. Good for him. Throw it into the teeth of the Eurocrats and their politics of complacency.
Well, they have no problem adopting Pali children, so how about Jewish children that have lost a parent in Israel?
Some people actually might consider YOU a *GASP* zionist now!
NEVER ceases to amaze me how someone merely brings up the holocaust and suddenly that makes them a zionist!
All I can say is this:
The wings of the cock (France’s unofficial national bird is the Gallic rooster) that WERE on the back of the 3rd beast in Daniel 7 are missing from the composite critter in Revelation.
And it was France that helped to sent the EU Constitution into a tailspin recently.
Of course, it is probably pure coincidence.
We have been doing it for decades with slavery victims and native American victims.
Guilt is a powerful tool.

The proposal unleashed a storm of protest his political foes and haters of Jews who used a straw man to falsely claim that it would unfairly burden children with the guilt of previous generations and some could be traumatized by identifying with a Holocaust victim. Thanks Cincinna.
This “controversy” really exposes the agenda of the socialist European Left.
The idea that educating children about the Holocaust would “traumatize” them flies in the face of the entire reason for remembering the Holocaust in the first place.
So it NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN.
These Euroloonies are so obsessed with blaming the Jews for everything that they fly into a furor over the idea of anything that might remind them of why Israel was created in the first place.
If it weren’t for the entrenched culture of anti-semitism in Europe, combined with the even more violent history of Muslims persecuting any and all religions, we wouldn’t have this tragedy to remember.
Giving these schoolchildren a way to personalize the horrible events of Europe’s past is the best way to prevent something similar from happening in the future.
MOONBATS!
(There, I just saved you 4 paragraphs.)
That describes Islam and Islamic schools. Muhammad was a master of death and dealt it to many. How stupid is it to bet your life on a false prophet? When has EMDH ever protested Moooooslimb schools?
Exactly!
I guess the only war we can allow our children to experience would be on the order of Life is Beautiful, as opposed to say, Gulag Archipelago, or even, The Hiding Place.
Bravo for Sarko.
This is France where teaching the Holocaust is obstructed by Muslim students intent on creating the next one.
................
“In recent years, teachers have complained that some Muslim students have been so disruptive in rejecting the veracity of the Nazi slaughter of the Jews that it is impossible to teach the subject.”
