“Well how do ya Romney backers feel about your boy now?”

It was expected. Romney was a moderate that could be stomached. But no one expected that he’d take a hard conservative stand and abandon the party because a liberal got the nomination.

According to his CPAC speech, it was clear that he said he would support the nominee for the good of the war on terror and our troops. So this is no surprise.

Mathematically, McCain is now the presumptive nominee no matter how many miracles the Huckster is wishing for.

At first, I didn't think I could ever support McCain. However, the more I read about Obama and his leftist positions, and the more I think about Bill and Hill back in our White House, I have decided I can support McCain. Two crucial issues dictate the decision:
1)support of our troops and their mission and;
2) SCOTUS nominees.
Both issues could change the course of history forever and will, most definitely, influence the kind of country our children and grandchildren will inherit.

Slit a vein or vote McCain? I'm going to vote McCain. Allowing the dems to win is potential suicide.

I feel acceptance. Acceptance that more people voted for McCain then Mitt.
I still feel that Mitt would make a better cantidate and President then any of the others and I look forward to 4 years from now when Mitt steps up to the plate again to unseat president Bubba the second or Hussien the first.

I only supported Mitt after Fred dropped out but I feel now as I did before: Mitt Romney is a smart, honorable man who wants America to thrive and does not put himself before her.

Well, I voted for Romney here in Tennessee, though only after Thompson and Hunter dropped out. They were my preferred candidates. As for Romney's support for McCain, what can I say? There was no one left other than Huckabee, who had insulted Romney's faith, and Paul, whom he obviously couldn't support.

If I had been Mitt I'd have just told my delegates they were free to vote their conscience, but party loyalty is a powerful thing and virtually every Republican will eventually endorse McCain because he's part of the club.

If you're asking me if I can intellectually (as opposed to politically) justify Romney endorsing McCain, the answer is "no".

Why on earth would the backers want his votes to go to Huckaphoney? Mitt did the right thing in his choice of the least worst betweeen two bad candidates.

I will bet you a $20 donation at the next FReeperthon that Duncan Hunter also endorses McCain (assuming he gets nominated).

I have never been a Romney supporter, but this move is entirely consistent with the speech he gave when he dropped out. No surprise here at all if one took him at this word when he gave that speech.

~”Well how do ya Romney backers feel about your boy now?”~

A whole lot better than a lot of the Thompson backers, I’d wager.

Pretty good, it was a smart move on his part, help unify the party to keep a republican in the white house, and sets himself up for 2012, McCain will be a one term wonder
