The sad thing is that Huckleberry Hound doesn’t have Burt Lancaster’s charisma or talent.

No one’s attacking the Bible.

We just don’t want it to supplant an equally Divinely-inspired document...the Constitution of the United States of America.

BTW, I’m quite conservative Catholic...Opus Dei, Legion of Mary and all that. So don’t you dare come back at me with “you’re a liberal” crap.

I just want religion kept away from the corrupting influence of politics, that’s all. “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s.”

Thanks. That brought back a lot of memories, hehe.

Do you have the lyrics for “Plastic Jesus”?

Geez o pete we have reached a new low on FR. When did FR become the evangelical Christian Bible quoting network. Give it a rest already. I know this may come as a surprise to some of you, but not every aspect of life requires a Bible quote to explain it. The real importance of the teachings of the Bible in our lives is getting more diluted every day by it injection into everything.

“Hyperbole like this makes evangelicals look like a bunch of nutjobs in a lot of people’s eyes.”

Having read some of the post from members of this site over the last few month, Pastor Bob seems mild by comparison. I thought I had mistakenly stumbled onto a Bible study site, a religiously bigoted Bible study site at that.

Side bar: My wife works with a trainer for some health reasons. The woman is a very nice women and a member of one the mega evangelical churches here locally. She refused to teach her the yoga her doctor recommended because it was too new agey and not Christian. ‘Nuff’ said.

Good, I am glad you are not a liberal. My point was that liberals like to use any opportunity to use the words 'Bible' and the cliche 'Bible Thumper' as a pejorative to take indirect cheap shots at conservative Christians with whom they disagree on religious, political or social issues.

I am not sure what a Bible Thumper is, but I do know how and why it is often used.

The mistake you make is that many who you would label as Bible thumpers do not agree with this guy any more than you probably do and may even think he is a knucklehead. Some people who quote the Bible are misguided, the same goes for those who don't.

I do disagree with your comparison of the Bible and the Constitution. While I uphold our Constitution and do not like to see it ignored and diminished, I do not think the Constitution is an equally Divinely-inspired document when comparing it to the Bible. The Constitution was created with a few flaws and this is why we have the amendment process.

One other thing, 'most people' can be wrong. When the child molestation and other crimes by certain Catholic priests became known and was mocked by the pop culture, 'most people' began to paint with a broad brush and the words 'Catholic priest' is being used by some as a pejorative due to the failings of a few.

Don't paint with a broad and general brush and then expect replies to immediately consider unknown specificity concerning you personally.

Hey Rev, you forgot one minor detail. Hackabee has a record. It’s not conservative. The ability to quote scripture does not erase that.

I wasn’t equating either document. I was stating that the Constitution is also a God-inspired writing, flaws and all.

Why do I say that? Think about the times and the men involved. The fact that all these brilliant men who we know as our Founding Fathers were all placed together in the same place and point in time is proof positive of the handiwork of Divine Providence.

There can be no other explanation. Random chance doesn’t quite cut it.

To wideawake: you say “I am an consv., evangelical, bible believing, Jesus loving Pastor (32 years now!!!)” and you talk like that?

You may be wideawake, but I think the coffee must be wearing off.

Why don’t you visit www.explorehuckabee.com and actually read his positions instead of slandering the man.

Pastor Bob says it all. Rush and Sean have become nothing more than talking heads that are more worried about their ratings than actually talking the truth.

Kindly recall that when Rush had his TV show, it was offered by that icon of conservative philosophia Phil Donahue. And as for Sean Hannity, you need only observe his Fox News dance partner every evening to see the rot firsthand; one is a Bolshevik, the other an incrementalist.

As *dishwater conservatives* they exist and have been given their voice in the public forum only to serve as a safety valve and prevent any real buildup of pressure for a groundswell of real American Conservatism.

True enough. Maybe you'll find this one more to your liking:

The people who cast the votes do not decide an election, the people who count the votes do.

Well said. It amazes me the number of "conservatives" who think the drivel coming from these two and others are what being a conservative is all about.

Actually it doesn’t amaze me as the majority of those registered to vote (legally) in the US have no idea what a real conservative looks like.

I have actually always liked that quote. And being a student of politics for over 40 years I have seen more than one occasion when that turned out to be true.

When any one starts quoting the Bible, I consider them to be power mongers. I distrust most of the tv/radio preachers - they want money.
