It is a sad commentary when people mistake equality of outcome for equality of opportunity. Equality of outcome, by definition, means that someone’s opportunity has been artificially limited.
It is an article of faith that any disparity of outcome between racial groups is entirely due to racism. Culture and genetics play no role in performance. Anyone who disputes this article of faith shall be burned at the stake
I guess I’m ready for my barbecue, then. ;-P
Get me some popcorn: ACLU vs. Liberal Public School District, about racism no less. Is this going to be on pay per view?
ROFLMAO!
I can foresee the remedy. Whatever percentage of blacks that pass, that will be the number of whites that are allowed to pass.
Each spring a list will be created, and the list of whites will be trimmed from the lowest GPA until parity is achieved.
For example: if you have a 2.8 GPA but are unlucky enough to be in the bottom third of the list . . . see you next year!
Could there be arguments that black kids, especially males, were stuck in special education courses just to get extra money for the school district? Thus money grabbing by the district led normal kids to be stuck in with truly afflicted, thus bored to death and dropped out?
That would be a valid lawsuit.
Former U. of Alabama basketball coach Wimp Sanderson, when asked by a reporter how many of his players graduate: “All of them that want to.”
This list is for articles relating to public education.
SoftballMominVA, Gabz and I have been asked to take over the list so that Metmom can concentrate on home schooling issues. If you want on or off this ping list, please FReepmail this months keeper of the list, SoftballMominVA

Blame everyone but the lazy students.
Just when I thought the ACLU could not sink any lower, I discover I am wrong.
Ummm... hello. What is the school suppose to do? Are they suppose to shackle and chain the black students and FORCE them to do their school work - and to be in attendance each day, and to be dedicated students?
Ooppps can't mention chains and shackles in the same sentence as "black students"....
But in all seriousness - exactly what can they do? I have also witnessed the same comparison across the country (and here in our little local school district). Black students generally have a lower graduation rate. No amount of help, money, or resources thrown at the problem, it still carries through. If they don't want to finish school, they won't, period.
But I have also seen a trend in white students... That trend is for those who have the behavior disorder I refer to as "ethnically confused" (those that for some reason emulate the "gangsta" black culture) also are showing a decline in graduation rates.
So - what to do?
I taught in a rural school in TX, where we had many low income students. Some of them did fine, but many did not. The common thread I found was parents who did nothing to improve their children’s work ethic/grades/study habits/etc. When I contacted parents I got one of two reactions. Either, promises to see that they buckled down and studied (or turned in homework, I was appalled at the number who never turned in any homework, never did written reviews I provided and never turned in things we actually did in class). OR they would say, “I can’t do anything with him/her either.”
How can the school or teachers be blamed for this?

I'm sure you will get plenty of answers to your question on this board. Many here blame every social ill on the school system.
This is a generalization but in any large school in my area,if you want to find the black kids, look in Special Ed.If you want to find the Asian kids,go to the AP classes. And if you want to find the WHITE kids, well, keep looking because they are few and far between.
I have worked in dozens of schools in the hood and can tell you the biggest problem with the black kids is not lack of smarts, disciplinary problems or anti-white hostility. The biggest drawback to their educational success is that many plain do not come to school. If I have thirty enrolled, maybe twenty will show.yesterday I had one class of 22 and six showed up.Another class with 17 on the roster, only five were present.
It is true that I am a sub and word gets out fast to the cutters and hall walkers.Yet while perusing the scantron sheet for the previous week,I noticed they cut just as often when the regular teacher is there.God knows what these phantom students are doing when not in class.
I CAN tell you that not having them there makes my job as a sub quite a bit easier!
LOL yes, I know. I’m a teacher. Fortunately my skin is pretty thick!
