That tagline is superb! Succinct and focused. And what I just told someone else much more clumsily.

Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower were good Republicans, but they weren't conservatives. Nor were Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, Bob Dole or George H. W. Bush.

snip

For Republicans to be successful, they must embrace moderates as well as conservatives. This means moderates get to lead from time to time

Time to time? Uhm.. Jack, you need to pay attention to your own argument and do the math again. Also, you left out the current Jeffe in Chief. He's a "moderate" too, certainly not a conservative. The one and only conservative President to note was Reagan. 8 years out of a century of "moderates" is hardly a power grab.

A couple of years ago, some old twit was set up in Shop ‘n Save trying to get people to sign up and accept the P-G for free for 4 wks. Told him no, I didn’t have a bird. A pity this is what serves for the local newspaper.

Gee, you must have gotten Roberta McCain’s memo telling us to hold our noses and vote for her son because we have no place else to go. Guess what? I don’t have to leave my couch and I don’t have to hold my nose.

I will let you search your own heart and political intuition for that one. They say one of the hardest things to predict is the future, but if it comes down to the wire, I’ll go for McCain over Hillary or Obama and live to fight another day.

His stripes won’t change in spite of his effort to camouflage them ... he is what he is.

You can count on him just being emboldened.

No doubt he counts his 'victories' as an indication that the voters want him to continue giving the finger to Conservatives. And he will.

The Republicans will oppose anything they need to with him[Obama], but with McCain, he's already shown a propensity to prefer democratic positions to republican positions, and that's what he'll advance.

Easier to have the leftist out in the open where we can see him[Obama or Hillary] instead of masquerading as one of us, waiting to screw us over at the closest oppurtunity (just as he did at almost every turn for the last 24 years).

Agreed.

I’d prefer to have the attacker come at me from the front instead of from the back.

I used to subscribe and have it mailed to me a day late just to support it because the P-G is so dreadful, but it has steadily gone down hill IMO and I stopped wasting my $ on it.

No reason to purchase a newspaper anymore other than for birdcage lining, with the internet the news of the world is at our hands.

I bought the T-R simply to support them in the hope that they would drive the P-G out of business. Once they started turning into P-G Lite, I could see no reason to blow my $ since I never needed it a day late through the mail to get my news even back in the ‘90’s. I sort of looked at it like a political donation.

How about a new designation of PINO—Patriot In Name Only. Sounds like someone who’d rather see Hillary than McCain in office because it’d so much fun to make “Hitlery” jokes for four, maybe eight, years.

Did all the pansy neos get together for their vocab lesson talking points?

"Dyspeptic"--what an old-fashioned term, yet suddenly we see it applied to ourselves by elites wanting us to "chill" "calm down" and "grow up."
