They now fear that he could pick Colin Powell or former congressman JC Watts, both of whom are African American, as his running mate.

But Mr McCain still has to shore up his conservative base and is actively looking at the Governors of Minnesota, South Carolina, Indiana, Mississippi, Florida and Texas: Tim Pawlenty, Mark Sandford, Mitch Daniels, Haley Barbour, Charlie Crist and Rick Perry.

Allies of President Bush are making the case for Rob Portman, a former White House Budget office director and Ohio congressman.

What a horrifyingly awful list of prospects. Half have no name recognition at all, Crist or Perry would be awful choices, and if you didn’t like the slick looks of Romney, try Perry on for size. And Bob Portman? Who? Who? And Colin Powell is just another liberal RINO, that’s if he’s even in the Pub party anymore. Kiss this election goodby.

Don’t look at the polls as they are ephemeral. They sure didn’t mean much in NH, (and Florida and california for the GOP)

There is no question that Hillary has more strategic advantages than Obama: the 8 year clinton record (well to do libs want left of center like Bill but they don’t want to lose everything to another Carter), her experience, she has all that special interest support, she’s not linked to islam, she can get seniors, hispanics and Jews and she’s a woman.

Which means that not only is over half the population could be under her spell but it is much harder for a man to go after a woman over her shady record.

Obama will have to bring up the Hillary dirt himself (you can see signs of this already) and he’ll still win the nomination but he’s going to look pretty bad in the end.

And China would have mega-power, since the Clintons can’t “Ft. Marcy Park” that many Communists to keep’em quiet about their prior deals.

Ya know, for that expression to be so widely used, at some place and at some time, it must have really happened.

That’s what I did on Tuesday in California, to vote against Commrade Rodham-Clinton since I’m registered “Decline to State” & couldn’t vote GOP/Romney anyway.

Billz aviation crash would trash all Hillz “experience,” though, so I doubt it would help her.

Since your column is labeled ‘satirical’ I guess we shouldn’t bet large sums on the accuracy of these ‘quotes’?

I seriously doubt McCain would select an unpopular Governor as a running mate

That means he might pick a guv like Florida's 'popular' Charlie Crist, the 'Global Warming' RINO. At least that might get him out of Florida, but it would be a high price for the rest of the country.

The one thing the Clinton and Obama camps can agree on is that John McCain, who is popular with independents and moderate Democrats, is their "worst nightmare".

That not what freepers have been saying here for the last two weeks.

The Clinton camp hopes to stop the Obama bandwagon by winning Texas and Ohio primaries on March 4, after which Mrs Clinton is planning to call on party grandees including Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Harry Reid, the party's leader in the Senate, to persuade Mr Obama to stand down.

I think their best bet is to call him "uppity". That is sure to work...

Donna Brazile, an African American strategist, said last week: "If 795 of my colleagues decide this election, I will quit the Democratic Party."

Mark the day. On February 10, 2008, gridlock agreed with Donna Brazile.

But the Clinton camp fears that a failure to engineer a deal could lead to bitter battles at the Democrat convention in Denver in late August, which could even end with Al Gore, the former vice president, emerging as a compromise candidate.

Be still my heart! Algore! We could not ask for more!

Everyone KNOWS that Bill will be the real VP...Obama will only be banished on remote “projects” and collecting a paycheck.
