John McCain has a rating of 82%

That number gives a false sense about what John's been up to recently. His latest ACU rating is 60. That's not very comforting.

McCain is absolutely solid on the most important issues of our time. He is for defeating the terrorists in Iraq. He is pro life. He is for most traditional values.

Do people always have to agree ? Should we all walk around like zombies ?

Do you think people that went out to vote in November of 1980 agreed with EVERYTHING Ronald Reagan was for, no. Not even every Republican. But he united the country behind the biggest issues in the 20th century. Defeating communism, having a strong defense. peace through strength. And he was right on the most important issues. Thus people of both parties re elected him in a landslide.

I would like to run for office someday. A dream of serving people. Do I have to toe the line on every single issue to get support from my party ?

If Hillary gets in, she will open the floodgates for the illegals, and they will provide the Dims a comfortable majority for generations to come. Expect one-party rule for the next 40 years.

Look pushing your guy right now is a dumb tactic. Conservatives may come around but they are not going to be persuaded by a bunch of McCainics singing their Cult of Personality love for the guy. We know his record. Making these claims merely make us ask “Why hasn’t he done anything about any of these things?

Read McCain-Leiberman, McCain Kennedy, McCain Feingold. His record is profoundly anti Conservatives. He current ranking by the ACU is 65, not 82.

McCain’s best bet is to go to the Congress and fight for some solidly Conservative items. Spending Caps would be a good fight. Or maybe a fully funded Border Fence. He has the time while Hillary and Obama slug it out. He needs to put some actions to match his words. Telling us what a great Conservative he is just makes us doubt him more. We know better. We know his record.

No but you do need to tow the line on most the issues that are important to your voters. McCain hasn't.

What McCain has done is be Democrat Lite then turn around and demand we must support him "Cause the other side is worse."

Not from where we are sitting.

and Ronald Reagan signed the 1968 Abortion Act in California. he regreted it years later. Spent most of his life as a FDR Democrat, he changed.

did that make him a bad presidental candidate in 1980 ?

Other Republicans, variously called insiders, party pros, elitists and worse, blithely assure us the alienated base will come around in the end and vote for McCain and the GOP ticket, particularly if Hillary Clinton is the alternative.

"Of COURSE they'll vote Republican, where ELSE are they going to go?"

If he’s as grand as you apparently think he is then he won’t need my vote anyway. He should win by a landslide.

Now, wait just a second. The McCain pushers, and their Huckster allies, have been telling us for months that the chief problem they had with Romney was that he had flipped on abortion and similar issues.

It all depends on what you think is the most important issue of our time.

To me it is Islamic terrorism. I, unlike many others, take the message that was sent to us by the terrorists on 9/11 serious. This country united behind the idea of defeating terror. and a few years later a lot people think defeat terrorists in Iraq wasnt work. Look at McCains record when it comes to defeating terrorists. That is enough for me.

and he is pro life.

You should change your name to Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. McCain will “work with the Democrats”. Isn’t that special? We’ll end up with a Supreme Court full of Justice Souters.

“McCain will make a fine President.”

He’s scum. He will lose in a 40 state landslide. There will be “I told you so’s” follwed by pointing and laughing.

You just do not get it.

Coming here and screaming we “have” to vote for your guy is not going to win you any votes. What you should try doing is addressing their legitimate concerns in a rational factual fashion. McCain needs to build a bridge to Conservatives. He needs our votes. We don’t need him. A Liberal is a Liberal no matter what party label you slap on them.

McCain talks a good game. He has DONE nothing. Actions speak louder then words.

Glad you love McCain. Don’t expect us to be equally blinded by your adoration. We cannot be. We know his political record. McCain Leiberman, McCain Feingold, McCain Kennedy, Baker Commission, Torture Amendment, Voted against the Bush Taxcuts. Authored no legislation on spending, vote for Federal Funding of Stem Cell Research etc etc etc

He spent the last 8 years burning that bridge down. He has a chance if he is smart enough to take it. Screaming at us what a great Conservative isn’t going to work. We know he is not. We know his record.

let me correct my typos and change my wording.

At a time when most of the country thinks the War in Iraq was not worth it. McCain could avoid the issue. He has said that he will be the last man standing.

It will be interesting to see how quickly conservatives slink back and support Sen. McCain. Talk radio pundits are already in a receiving line to kiss and make up.

I expect that within a week anyone who has the temerity to suggest that Sen. McCain is anything other than a rock solid conservative will be viciously criticized.

Conservatives are truly the battered wives of American politics.

Here is the whole McCain campaign dilemma in a nutshell. We are citing facts, you chant back slogans.

Actions speak louder then words

Senator McCain might have a chance with Conservatives if he goes fight the Democrats in the Senate on some solidly Conservative issues. He has the time while Hillary/Obama slug it out.

Best bet would be a Federal Spending cap. A reimplementation of the 1995 “Pay as you go” rules. McCain needs to go actually put some actions on the record to back up his words. Show us he really will fight for us, not just against us, as he did the last 8 years.

Right now we have no reason to believe a President McCain would be any different then Senator McCain. He talks a good game while being Democrat Lite.

Well here's a few important issues for our time and beyond:

Abrogating the 1st Amendment: Sponsored the bill - WRONG!

Make tax cuts permanent: Voted against it - WRONG!

Amnesty for criminals: Sponsored the bill - WRONG!

Restrictions on embryonic stem cell research: Voted against it - WRONG!

Thinks Justice Alito is "too conservative" - WRONG!

So as long as you don't care about the Constitution, or keeping your own money, or the rule of law, or having constructionist (not activist) Justices on the Supreme Court, you're a zombie?

Better a zombie than a McCainiac...having a serious set of core conservative values is far more important than going along with the flow. Reagan provided a heck of a lot more for conservatives to agree on than McQueeg.
