I’m not so sure that the North Phoenix Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church.

Oh yes! North Phoenix is affiliated with the SBC.

“Another example of how arrogant McCain is. You don’t become a member of a Southern Baptist church unless you have a Baptist baptism.”

An example of McCain’s arrogance AND evidence that his “Baptist” church isn’t Baptist. No true Baptist church, Southern or otherwise, accepts members without immersion baptism. It’s all done in order: (1) salvation, (2) immersion baptism, (3) church membership.

Wife is an evangelical. Her SBC pastor passed out a two sided 8 1/2 X 11 sheet comparing SBC beliefs to Mormon beliefs. Of course, he advised that it was simply to illustrate the differences, not to sway potential voters one way or t’other. He who controls the press controls the story.

McCain is the one saying that he is a member, not the church.

And, you are right about membership requirements.

Even though 66 years ago I was enrolled in a Baptist cradle roll, I did not actually become a member until I had been saved and baptized when I was 29.

“I was enrolled in a Baptist cradle roll...”

Oh, my! What a blast from the past. I’d forgotten all about the Cradle Roll. Did you have the perfect attendance Sunday School pin, where a bar was added every year?

When I was 8, I was saved, then baptized and became a member.

No perfect attendance pin, but I was going through a box of stuff the other day, and ran across my cradle roll certificate.
