They keep reballoting until someone gets a majority.
There’s still hope.
Yes, he is the chair of the GOP in KS and is Mitt’s immigration advisor. Don’t know how much clout he has though. There are to very distinct factions of the GOP in KS these days the “moderate” wing (who gave us Governor Sebelius) and the conservatives.
Its a caucus, not an all day voting thing like other states.
Everyone gets together and take a vote of who is in the room. These are the results of the first vote:
* Romney - 41%
* Huckabee - 33%
* McCain - 16%
* Paul - 10%
They are now voting a second time without Paul as an option.
Even if all of Pauls voters go to McCain, it will not be enough and after this 2nd vote(about to be finished) McCain will be dropped. (Or its over if someone hits 50%)
They will then vote a third and final time between Huck and Romney, winner take all.

EXACTLY! Since they had to re-vote its wasn’t over! That was my point — thanks for clearing that up.

I hope the vote comes in before Rush’s show is over. Why are they taking so long to revote. I hope Mitt wins, really I do! Best wishes Mitt!

I do think you may be right. Minnesota caucuses and in my experience, the people that show up are pretty active and informed. They don’t just let you come in and vote - you have to participate and most people that aren’t that interested don’t want to take the time. I certainly hope that this will be true.

“Denial” no, but discouraged, yes. If Huckabee manages to recover from the treatment he’s gotten the past week or so by the media it will be an indication of both his political skills and his potential. I’m not optimistic, but I can always hope.
I’m serious though about the W VA vote possibly riding on which candidate made the best presentation. Huckabee has gotten where he is based almost solely on his ability to present himself, with little money. If he can convince the delegates that he’s far more conservative than he’s been made out to be by his opponents (including the many he has in here) then he just might swing a majority of delegates his way.
In any case, it’s interesting.

“Romney took 41 percent with 464 votes, while former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee took 33 percent and Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) took 16 percent. Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) took 10 percent and will not be a part of the second round.
The session will reconvene for another vote at 1:30 p.m. EST. It will award 18 of the state’s 30 delegates to the Republican National Convention.”
Looks like Huckabee is going to take the vast majority of Paul voters, and WV’s delegates. From NRO’s Campaign Spot:

Through 30 of 55 counties on the second ballot:
316 Huckabee
275 Romney
I don’t know where the other counties will go, but I’m told that most of the Paul people are going with Huckabee.
