“Can we afford more of President Bush’s “compassionate conservatism” writ large.”

I didn’t know it at the time but “compassionate conservatism” means socialism.

HUckabee is LOW. He doesn’t have a chance of winning. He’s taking votes from Romney. He’s smuggling up to McPian in the arse probably for a VP or a cabinet slot. Both McPain in the arse and the HUckster are slandering Mitt. The Huckster or the Mc Pain in the Arse, are very CIVIL to each other and down playing any socialistic efforts.

HUckabee is one SMALL, petty man. He’s VERY vindictive. Hardly what I’d call a “Christian”. We're happily voting for Mitt. If McPainin the arse gets it - we SIT HOME on election night. Will not vote for a Demoncrat.

“And you people are worried Romney will betray you?”

ABsolutley NOT.

We’ve already seen how McPain in the arse and the Huckster HAVE betrayed folks.

I’m glad Huckabee has grown a little, to be more in line with the Republican base.

At least he is willing to compromise with us, instead of the Dems, like McCain.

“It’s Romney’s campaign that threatens to have me voting democrat. If he get’s the nomination, I will definitely vote democrat against him.”

That’s a little farther than I would go.

I don’t trust Mitt as much as Huckabee, but at least he’s promising to do the right thing, instead of promising to do the wrong thing.

It would be nice if we had the luxury of sitting around, picking out the best looking candidate, with the best looking family, who hadn’t made any mistakes, and even their families hadn’t.

But Reagan isn’t running this year. I love animals, but I’d rather overlook families that aren’t perfect than candidates that aren’t perfect.

I hope that Mitts conversionS are real, and if he’s the nominee, I’d take a chance on him instead of the Dems, but some of us are realistic enough to be a LITTLE skeptical that after years of supporting abortion, taxpayer funded abortion, the Brady Bill and other gun control, homosexual issues, gay judges, that he’s all of sudden conservative on all those issues.

Huckabee - reliably pro-life, not recently pro-life.

Huckabee - reliably pro 2nd amendment, not recently 2nd amendment.
He understands that it is for self defense, not just hunting and sports.

He is an ardent, articulate supporter of the Fair Tax, and I believe he really “gets it”. It is the best hope on the horizon for giving power back to the people, and waking people up to the stranglehold the current tax system has on the people and the economy.

If DUNCAN HUNTER believes he can be trusted on border/immigration and WOT issues, I would trust Duncan Hunter’s informed, educated judgment after he spent a year getting to know the candidates, more than I would trust the opinion of any of the haters on here.

Every vote for Mike Huckabee on Tuesday will be one more vote to show the establishment and the media that the election can’t be bought and we don’t have to settle for their opinion of “that’s the best we can get”.

Evangelicals may not knowingly vote for a liberal, but the key word here is “knowingly”. Sometimes they just go with the familiar name.

The problem is that MITT gets a pass from Limbaugh and Ingraham because he was in a liberal state. Huckabee gets no such “pass”.

I wonder how many thinking Baptists cringe every time that foul mouthed, uncouth, petty, arrogant little man opens his mouth?

Most?

"My sense is that Mr. Huckabee's good supporters deserve a better leader." ... Peggy Noonan

IMO, Mike Huckabee is the quintessential "flim-flam" man. He appealed to, and used (in every sense of the word), a disenchanted segment of the electorate - the social conservatives. The loser in all this (besides the social conservatives) is the Republican Party (otherwise we would have Fred Thompson right now rather than John McCain). Again, from Peggy Noonan's Jan. 5, '08 column:

"I'm sorry to say it is my sense that Mr. Huckabee is not so much leading a movement as riding a wave. One senses he brilliantly discerned and pursued an underserved part of the voting demographic, and went for it. Clever fellow."

I don't understand the attacks on Huckabee at this site and elsewhere. He wants to get rid of the IRS. If only he would want to get rid of the Federal Reserve too. Now those are two very 'conservative" ideas!

What makes any one think that Romney will not follow the CFR mandates.

We will probably end up with Obama since the media simply love him. As Michael Savage says: "This is a sham election!"

It's time we started to realize that we have to try to get the best candidate we can. We may not win, but we will have someone real in Huckabee as opposed to McCain or Romney who are both acceptable to the MSM, while Huckabee is not.

This site has probaby been infiltrated with phoney "conservatives," who are trying to confuse the issue. It wouldn't be hard to do.

IMO, I see 3 types of posters here. The ones that believe in their candidate, we that are supporting by default and can see their flaws and then the ones pretending to support a candidate and stir the pot for the real candidate they support. It’s hard to figure out who is who here. I’m sad for the first group if their guy didn’t do well. It hurts.

Obviously I like Huckabee more than most here. But Alan Keyes is a very good man. His website is very informative and while he has little chance of succeeding in his presidential bid I go with Chesterton who said,”It is a glorious thing to fight a losing battle and win.” Those of us remember Barry Goldwater and Johnson’s phony peace candidacy also recall the thrill of Ronald Reagan realizing the Goldwater dream that started in the dark days of 1964.

I like Alan Keyes too. We have some fine men in our country. Too bad that only a few know it.
