How much more do the healthy people pay in taxes over a lifetime? Not nearly enough to cover the social security checks and retirement pensions they collect. This is another area where unhealthy people save society money.

“Teenage suicides are really cheap in the long run. Why are we trying to stop them?
Jeez, some of these researchers ought to get real jobs. Like flipping fatty cheeseburgers at Micky Ds.”
I agree teen suicides are a real bargain. Looking at the big picture just think what a savings abortions are.
Seriously, I never got the money angle of getting rid of smokers and fat people. I predict there will never be a day when healthcare and insurance will be cheaper because we got rid of those people. There will always be a reason for it to go higher and higher and higher.
But I wonder when all this is achieved what will they call their utopia of perfect people? The words Eden, Camelot, and Hollywood are already taken.

"It was a small surprise," said Pieter van Baal, an economist at the Netherlands' National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, who led the study. Not to people that think.
If the government is in the health care business just rule that certain habits invalidate certain medical care procedures ... and then remove all taxes on those habits to cut costs down.

I’ve been saying this for years. This isn’t the first study to say this, either.
It puts the lie to the big excuse for the nanny-state, that is that smoking and obesity “cost more”. Which is obviously false.

But I wonder when all this is achieved what will they call their utopia of perfect people? Take your pick: Eastasia, Eurasia or Oceania.

They probably don’t have AIDs, nor will they be easily blown away in a hurricane.

This is sounding more and more like “Children of Men”. You’re too expensive for the state to take care of. If you don’t die before you’re expiration date, we’ll cut costs by making sure you expire on that date.

I don’t know what’s worse in that photo, the weight or the shirts. Note to self: don’t wear tight striped shirts if you get fat.

Good news for fat assed Democrats. Time for Rosie, Roseanne and Michael Lies Moore to celebrate.
