Epidemics by definition are contagious diseases spread by an infectious agent, so what they are talking about is not an obesity epidemic. Gee, haven't you seen the "studies" that purport to show obesity is contagious?
Last one I saw even claimed that people who correspond, without ever meeting, are even MORE likely to "catch" obesity from the obese correspondent, than from someone close to them!
That is in addition to the genetic component, and the nurture component, and the low self esteem/depression component, and the....

I would like to see how the lefties vote on the bill. They are nanny-statists on one hand, but also trumpet diversity themselves on the other. It’s cognitive dissonance all the way for them. I personally believe that diversity is a bunch of crap, but then, the government shouldn’t be in the business of interfering with how merchants conduct theirs.

Malls should be banned next. With all the stores so close together, walking long distances has become of thing of the skinny past.
Ban motor vehicles and horseback.

An epidemic of salt shakers? An epidemic of indoor plumbing? An epidemic of clothing? I don’t think so.

I wonder when they will get around to gays who practice one of the most disease ridden high risk lifestyles. They and their preventable diseases are too expensive to treat. When do you think we’ll hear that?

That would be ‘endemic’, not ‘epidemic’. Not the best use of the word, but somewhat acceptable.

This bill will NOT pass, and the sponsors know it. Mississippi has some of the most lenient smoking, gun, insurance, helmet, etc laws in the nation.Well, they gotta start somewhere, right?

Who ever put this thing together is a total idiot and just plain ignorant. For starters there are people who are diabetic who may wander into a restaurant simply needing anything to eat and what if they cannot get served? What then? For others who are truly obese you start cutting off the calories and retaining water becomes a problem. My point is that the solution is a little more complex than what conventional thinking and wisdom will bring about and in this case we are better off leaving things alone.
