I’ll leave you with a final UPBEAT ‘pep talk’ from LARRY KUDLOW:

STAY OPTIMISTIC, MR. PRESIDENT
[Larry Kudlow]

Mr. President, in your last State of the Union message tonight, I urge you to stay upbeat and optimistic.

Despite the usual carping by the mainstream media, Gen. Petraeus talked about a newfound sense of hope on which we can build in Iraq. Political progress is afoot there, at both the federal and local levels. I know you’ll stay optimistic on that one.

At home, the economy is not nearly as weak as the Wall Street bears would have us believe. After-inflation income is rising rapidly. Family wealth is at an all-time high. Bank balance sheets are being repaired and corporate cash flows are unusually high. Nearly 150 million people are working in business with a low 5 percent unemployment rate. These people understand full well that the Democrats’ attack on corporations is completely wrong.

Hang tough, Mr. President, on your pro-growth program of low tax rates, overspending vetoes, and the war against proliferating budget earmarks. Stay strong on the free-trade agenda. It has become one of the biggest economic stimulants and provides ordinary American families the opportunity to buy the best-quality goods at the lowest-possible prices from any source in the world. Even small family businesses can sell more of their goods and services to overseas markets.

Despite war, bubbles, oil shocks, and assorted Wall Street miscues, the economy is in its seventh year of expansion. Meanwhile, our nation is in its seventh year of safety from jihadist terrorist attacks.

You have offered important ideas on free-market solutions for health, education, and Social Security. And you have made it clear that faith is a key part of our national life and our daily personal lives.

While all is never perfect, you have delivered on the most fundamental hopes for the nation: peace and prosperity.

America’s greatness is grounded on optimism and freedom. You have spoken loudly in support of these great themes. You have succeeded to a far-greater degree than the intellectual elites will ever admit.

Stay the course, Mr. President. Stay optimistic.

Call me a Kool-Aid drinker if you like, but if the Demon-Rats had been in charge the past seven years, Al Qaeda would NOT be on the run worldwide, we would NOT have had tax cuts, and we would not have two more honorable conservatives on the Supreme Court.

Instead, we would be in a deep recession, fear of terrorism would grip us constantly because of the growth of bin Laden's organization, taxes would be rising, and our Supreme Court would be routinely issuing 7-2 decisions in favor of the leftwingnuts.

Overall, I think the man has done a decent, if not perfect, job.

I know I have rested easier with President Bush in the White House for the last seven years. I am sure going to miss him.

Ditto!

I still love him and I'll be watching

I have the utmost respect for President Bush, even though I have disagreed with him on a number of occasions. He was treated with disdain from day one by the media and most of those in Washington, yet through all that he remained a class act. They say history will judge him as a President, and who knows how that will turn out.As for me I remember Sept 11th vividly and I remember the strength this President showed our Nation during that time, and what he went through to to keep this country safe.If for no other reason than that I say thank you President Bush.

Will we hear anything about immigration?
A hint of slamming the border shut?

Yep. I live in San Diego. I totally disagree with our Pres on illegals. I pay for all their crap. I hear them with they told us to "f you" when they were protesting and we simply said, "God Bless America ..the best country in the world." They (all the young Mexican boys) yelled, F-you!!!! to us.

I just don't get it...unless there is a drug related reason. I just don't get it.

For 98 percent of everything else, I'm sooooo glad W is our President.

BOTTOM LINE: IT WAS GORE OR BUSH...THEN IT WAS KERRY OR BUSH. Those were the choices... from that...I KNOW AMERICA GOT IT RIGHT!

Just lovely—she really stands out against all those around her in black/dk blue!

If there’s one main thing the Bushes have done, is they brought back dignity to the White House after all the damage the Clintons did—I thank God for that!

President Bush saved this Country after
Sept 11, 2001 , with the aid of the “angel in the Whirlwind that guides this country” and our Troops. I will never forget!

This from Newt, who quit when he had won his district?

I read one of his books, and it was good...but he really seems lately like a bit of a pessimist, not at all Reagan-like. And I am one who didn’t support Reagan during his terms! I was influenced by the Dark Side at the time.

Thanks for the ping.

Newt’s about right, I’d say.

I’m giving it a miss. Lone Ranger is on now. Maybe they’ll play Gunsmoke or Johnny Dollar next.
