The dark horse candidate - General Petraeus.
This could be an exciting adventure.
Yes, it seems obvious to me.
It would NOT be the first contested convention in “60 Years”. The last one was in 1952 when Dwight D. Eisenhower got the nomination.
That was not 60 years ago, it was 55 years ago.
This would be something this nation hasn’t seen in generations. And there’s no telling who’ll come out of such a thing.
I think it is healthy. That is why we have a process in place.
The idea of steam rolling candidates and holding our nose is not necessary. The primary is for us to have a say. I pray that Thompson does win South Carolina and win a large part of the south. If the media had did their job Huckabee wouldn’t even being considered at this point. He would have been pardoned from the primary the way he pardoned so many murders and rapists in Arkansas. The whole idea that such a man with such bad judgment could even be considered should bring us all to pause. It wasn’t so long ago that we revealed in a win against Michael Dukakis.
We saw the Democrat part try to reinvent Kerry into a war hero now we have a candidate Romney who some have reinvented into a conservative. Then we have Ted Kennedy’s buddy in the Senate John McCain. He not only didn’t vote for the tax cuts be he be moaned that they were tax cuts for the rich. That isn’t a man who is just holding out for spending cuts. Also he tried to steam roll us with Amnesty and him and his compatriot Lindsey Graham (also of the Gang of 14) tried to paint all of us who wanted the law enforced as racist bigots.
Memory is shot in today’s world. I couldn’t believe I almost considered voting for McCain. I suppose that goes to show that we shouldn’t confuse the pleasure when someone who we don’t enjoy hearing speak is quiet with electibility. We say we don’t want a con man and yet here we go chasing after them like we are in search of a cheap whore to do our bidding.
