I was referring to the 1991-93 Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs which John McCain co-chaired with John Kerry. Nothing more, nothing less. Not everyone sees the results of that committee’s work the way you do, and that includes military veterans.

“Accordingly, there is not much difference to me between Bill Clinton and Mitt Romney—both escaped putting their precious little a$$e$ on the line for their country by just outlasting the system. I suppose for you Mittwitts its something to be proud of...but not to me.”

If you would care to read any number of pro Fred postings you will see that I am a big supporter of Fred Thompson. If Mitt is elected I will vote for him, but will not be completely satisfied. He’s done too much pandering and has flip flopped on a lot of positions in the past. The one that really gets me is signing up for a lifetime membership in the NRA shortly before announcing that he’s running for President. No Mitt, talking about hunting for varmints when you were a kid does not give you 2A credibility.

The original point of my post was criticizing you for calling Hannity and Levin chickenhawks. I don’t know all there is to know about Mitt’s draft record and do not care to defend it. Maybe Levin and Hannity do have double standards concerning this. However, that does not make them chickenhawks.

I’m not happy with Cheney’s record during the Viet Nam war either. He got a lot of deferrments. Both he and Mitt will have to live with themselves for that. However, they are both far better choices to lead this country in this war against Islamo Fascism than Hillary Clinton, Barrack Obama or John Edwards.

One other thing, your candidate is strongly suspected of putting out that garbage about Fred dropping out after Iowa and endorsing McCain. If he did that (and there’s pretty good reason to believe he did) then he’s as dirty a trickster as he claims everyone else is. I would call that a hypocrite.

I admire McCain for his service and what he did during Viet Nam. But I’ve met Congressional Medal of Honor winners and that would not get them my vote automatically. McCain is soft on immigration, co-authored the McCain/Feingold anti first amendment bill, is lousy on global warming, did not vote for the Bush tax cuts etc..

Yes, Fred did vote for the McCain/Feingold anti first amendment bill. He has since denounced it and said it was a mistake. Has McCain done that yet? McCain is not a conservative. He’s a country clubber. A country clubber may be better than the Hildabeast, but this is the primaries.
