I’m not sure if I’m the first to use it, but I kept thinking of Jesse Jackson saying “HOPE, NOT DOPE”, and that was how I came up with it.

That's very clever of you. Speaking of dopes, JJ's a pretty big dope himself. I hope the dope isn't supporting the dope from Hope? LOL ;o)

I am a staunch prolife evangelical Christian conservative, and I want nothing to do with Mike Huckabee. He is a complete fraud ala Jimmy Carter.

My first choice would be Duncan Hunter, but he has never gotten any traction. Fred Thompson is my second choice. He is much more conservative than Mike Huckabee, despite his flaws.

Huckabee hasn’t really been exposed to the masses for the true moderate that he is yet. The media has been carrying his water. Once people see who he is, his support will wane. Hopefully, it will be before it’s too late.

I am tired of people trying to redefine “conservative.” Huckabee isn’t conservative by any accurate definition.

If Huck gets the nomination on the R side and anybody other than Barack gets it on the D side, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Jackson support the Huckster in the general.

This excellent compilation is a service to conservatives and to the nation. The sheer volume should give any conservative who is considering voting for Huckabee pause.

If you are a Christian socialist, Mike may be your man. If you are a Christian conservative, please don’t fall for the redefining of our principles which he has offered in lieu of a genuine conservative record.

As Reagan said...”Trust but verify”.
It applies to candidates as well as nations.

As Fred Thompson said...”When we stray, we pay”...
And we’ve paid enough.

Thanks!

I really don't get his appeal either. If anybody else had a record like his, the same people who are supporting him now wouldn't give him the time of day. He could be caught in bed with a live boy, a dead girl, and several animals all at the same time, and some here would attempt to explain it away.

Maybe I should get ordained, I could probably get away with bank robbery.

(Arkansas Senate Bill 206 would have denied state benefits to illegal aliens, required proof of citizenship to vote, and require state agencies to report illegal aliens.)

Even if benefits to people who are in the U.S illegally could be stopped, "I don't understand how a practicing Christian can turn his back on a child from this or any other state," Huckabee said.

You had me at Count 1: Exhibit A. This guy is dangerous.

Dating Margaret Carlson, yeah, that Margaret Carlson. “True” conservative, right! Only took him six years to decide to marry his current wife. That’s decisive decision making.

Yours is possibly the single stupidest post I've ever read on this site.

Someone DATES someone who's not a conservative (uh, like your boy Huckabee--not?) and that means they're not a conservative?

He dates someone before deciding to marry and that somehow is telling of their political conservatism? Hmm, what about the divorced Ronald Reagan?

Huckabee is a liberal, and you are trying so hard to paint Fred as one to deflect.

The reason Fred is stealing votes from Huckabee is simple: people are realizing Huckabee isn't a conservative, and Fred is. Truth hurts.

Fred Thompson Is A Fiscal Liberal

Senator Ernest Hollings (D-SC) offered an amendment to S.J.R. 5 which would require congressional approval of any U.S. international trade agreements that amend or repeal U.S. laws. The amendment reads, in full: “No international trade agreement which would in effect amend or repeal statutory law of the United States law may be implemented by or in the United States until the agreement is approved by the Congress.” As Senator Hollings noted during consideration of the amendment, “This is constitutional language, that no international agreement that would, in effect, amend or repeal statutory law can be implemented until approved by the Congress. Under the Constitution, Article I, Section 8, it is the duty of the Congress to regulate foreign commerce – not the executive branch…” Despite the constitutional mandate, the Senate approved on March 5, 1997 a motion to table (Kill) the Hollings amendment by a vote of 84 to 16. (Congressional Record, page S1970, roll call 25). Fred Thompson voted FOR this motion to table.

Fred Thompson voted FOR an amendment to extend Supplemental Security Income and food stamp benefits to illegal immigrants (Congressional Record, page S4068, roll call 58)

Fred Thompson voted FOR putting the federal government’s spend-a-thon on auto-pilot at the previous year’s funding level if Congress and the President fail to pass a budget by the start of the next fiscal year. (Congressional Record, page S4172, roll call 61)

Senator Tim Hutchinson (R-AR) presented an amendment that would have required congressional approval before President Clinton could designate any rivers under the American Heritage Rivers Initiative (part of the UNESCO Biosphere land grabs) he established by Executive Order on September 11th. Senator Hutchinson explained that “we have allowed the executive branch, through various Executive Orders, to usurp what is legitimately and constitutionally our right and our responsibility. This amendment represents one small area where we can say that the President has issued and Executive Order, and we now will ensure that we have the right of review.” The Senate agreed to a motion to table (kill) the Hutchinson amendment on September 18, 1997 by a vote of 57 to 42. (Congressional Record, page S9553, roll call 247). Fred Thompson voted FOR the motion.

Fred Thompson voted FOR David Satcher for Surgeon Genenal. The position had been unfilled for about four years and could have remained so. David Satcher was particularly unsuitable for the position because he supports partial-birth abortion and the use of tax dollars for needle exchange programs for drug addicts. (Congressional Record, pages S12094-95, roll call 298)

Fred Thompson’s voted AGAINST a “motion to table” the anti-free speech campaign finance “reform” bill. His ONE VOTE could have stopped one of the worst assaults on conservative free speech in history. (Congressional Record, page S906, roll call 12)

Fred Thompson voted FOR a bill that imposed a $1.1 Billion unfunded mandate upon the states for the payment of food stamps to illegal immigrants. (Congressional Record, page S4680, roll call 129)

Fred Thompson voted FOR a omnibus budget bill that restored funding to the liberal programs promoted by Bill Clinton. Republicans had cut AmeriCorps, Corporation for National and Community Service, Goals 2000, Community Oriented Policing Services, Department of Commerce’s Advanced Technology Program, Community Development Financial Institutions, Council on Environmental Quality, and a host of other welfare state programs. Fred Thompson is one of those responsible for undermining the Republican commitment to fiscal responsibility and is one of those primarily to blame for the fiscal mess Republican’s now face. (Congressional Record, pages S4159-60, roll call 89)

Fred Thompson voted for a bill that was so laden with earmarks and abuses that even John McCain called it “the largest pork barrel spending bill ever written” and the ultra-liberal Representative David Obey (D-WI) was forced to admit that it was “a veritable pork bonanza.” (Congressional Record, page S5417, roll call 147)

Fred Thompson voted AGAINST separate male and female military training and barracks. (Congressional Record, page S7156, roll call 180)

Fred Thompson voted FOR a bill to require all gun dealers to supply trigger locks with all guns sold. (Congressional Record, page S8634, roll call 215)

Fred Thompson voted AGAINST eliminating the Marriage Penalty in Tax Code. (Congressional Record, page S9177, roll call 242)

Fred Thompson voted for a budget plan which would cause an increase in the national debt by more than $1 TRILLION over six years, and increases in total federal government spending by several hundred Billion annually by 2002 and allowing the stealing from temporary surpluses in trust funds like Social Security. (Congressional Record, page S6186, roll call 159)

Fred Thompson voted AGAINST a bill that would have cut funding to the Legal Services Corporation. Senator Lauch Faircloth (R-NC) lamented that the Legal Services Corporation “is nothing more than an entitlement program for activist lawyers. We simply subsidize them and pay them.” (Congressional Record, page S14617, roll call 476)

Fred Thompson voted FOR Senator John Kerry’s amendment that continued public funding of Presidential elections. (Congressional Record, pages S7349-50)

Fred Thompson voted FOR more than $12.2 Billion per year in unconstitutional foreign aid programs during fiscal 1996 to 2002. (Congressional Record, page S8946, roll call 248)

Fred Thompson voted FOR a minimum wage increase. (Congressional Record, S9527, roll call 265)

We've got to do everything we can to keep him from getting the nomination. He is a loose cannon, and that makes him dangerous. He's dishonest, which disturbes me since he claims to be a Christian. So, you don't think Jackasson would support Hillary? I thought he was a big supporter of President Clinton. I seem to remember him having open access to the White House.
