The article is very LONG but interesting, basically John Kobylt screwed Ziegler over and forced him out. Ziegler also makes some great points about John Kobylt's flip flopping on the Iraq issue as soon as the war became unpopular.
It's an interesting read, but it's kind of sad knowing that Ziegler will probably never be able to get a job in the talk radio business again.
I could be wrong, but it sounds like there’s been a bit of a spat.
bttt
There are some managers and hosts and call screeners who work in “conservative” talk radio who strongly disagree with the conservative politics.
Then there are those who support some elements of conservativism while hanging on to some liberal positions (sometimes they are former libs who haven’t entirely broken with their past but genuinely believe many conservative principles, like Michael Medved, and sometimes they are fiscal conservatives but more socially liberal; some like Bill O’Reilly denounce Christian conservativism when and where they can).
The worst of the hosts have false names, use false voices, and even have their own scripted callers. Waste of time calling it “talk radio”. It is just jibber jab back and forth but there is no “discussion” or honesty.
Purse fight.
More like a huge spat.
What does John Ziegler really think?
So, the powers that be came up with the idea of "Felon Radio". A couple of stations have hired former politicians, liberals of course, that have been convicted of felonies, to host their own programs.
I understand that the numbers aren't good, but they have connections....
Thanks for posting this, sounds like a great read. (I’m on Ziegler’s mailing list and I didn’t get it. Hmph!)
Ive been a loooong time Ziegler fan since I live here in Hollywood.
So that’s the scoop of John and ken, eh? Im a fan of those 2 and Handel as well, BUT this makes me think twice of the politics on KFI.
Clear Channel here did a number of things over the years. They fired all of the local hosts and brought in out of towners to cover local politics in a fresh mayoral race. Hosts explicitly said they wanted no “God talk” and “no talk of bill numbers, it’s boring”.
Those hosts set up elsewhere on the dial while Clean Channel ran it into the ground (Hi, Ken Charles).
Later they took to running inhouse ads about the station trying to open a dialog “first the left... then the right”. The heavy hitter hosts (Rush/Hannity) got moved to the city’s only “news” station while the old station is populated with fake name/voice shows. And Jesse Jackson had an overnight slot in their rotation.
And sometimes they are frauds like Michael Weiner who figured out that being a liberal carictature of a Conservative can make you lots of $$$$.
KSEV 700am all the way!
He made himself indefensible when he called Ann Coulter a neonazi. He is free to say such things and she should be fair game for criticism. It was a bogus charge and he railed about it for days.
Agreed. And it’s funny you mention our news station. Chris Baker was at least occasionally funny, Michael Berry is the radio equivalent of bread toasting.
I listened to John Zeigler in Louisville, KY when he first came there. He is an absolute CAD! He is also not a conservative. The man has no class at all. I say good riddance.
The only saving grace is that Michael Berry never became mayor and he dropped out of the race that Orlando Sanchez almost won.
