These primaries come so quickly together, that I don’t understand any candidate with a chance to win pulling out. If Freds’ people think he has a real chance of winning or doing well in the west and south, why quit?

“Goodbye Fred”

Ya know, I didn’t even have to look at who posted this tripe. I knew it was you, without even looking.

It’s kind of too bad that Fred has not emerged. He should be further ahead of the game but he seems to be too late to the party. The other guy that is a disappointment is Hunter. He’s got no chance at all. Good ideas but no hope at all. Still some choose to pimp for him every chance they get.

>>>>>I don’t think it’s just his late entry — that is just a symptom of the problem,” Lebo says. “The problem is that he has never shown a willingness to fight for conservative causes. Believing in those causes isn’t enough. There should be some evidence that you are willing to do something about it.” <<<<<<

That statement pretty well sums it up. Talk is cheap.

How so you. It must be draining to be you.
Oh by the way...how did your candidate do?
I notice that you haven’t posted anything to that effect.
Yawns...but you accomplished one thing..
you got some of that attention you so crave.
Yep Pissant we noticed you are still around. That should make you feel better.

Fred is blowing of NH (as he should have Iowa). South Carolina is the test for him. A weak showing there and he is finished, a strong showing and he should be able to maintain a viable campaign. Of course, he’ll need to add some staffers with political savvy.

Well, unless people are willing to shovel alot more money into his campaign, he probably will be finished soon. I have sent him money 3 times now and am not even completely sold on him yet as a national candidate because of all the reasons we have all heard.

I urge all Freepers to send him a check today and pray like hell he can stay in this race, if for nothing else than to send the conservative message through more than just a few early primary states!!

There is nothing like backing up your conservative convictions with hard cold cash and while we are at it, let’s send some cash Duncan Hunter’s way too!

Just my two cents.

The problem is that he has never shown a willingness to fight for conservative causes.

That is my biggest worry about Fred. He chaired the committee to investigate the Clinton/China funny money, and allowed the investigation to be turned into an investigation into Haley Barbour and the Republicans (the only part of the investigation to be covered live by CNN!) He allowed himself to be rolled, and didn't seem to mind at all.

Meanwhile, McCain was covering Clinton's and the Chinese's flank with his "This is all about the need for more laws" campaign.

“I think he was expecting to ride in, pick up the bouquet, and that would be that,” says Bert A. Rockman, head of the political science department at Purdue University. “It doesn’t work that way. “People confuse appearance with reality. Thompson played hard-as-nails authority figures on TV and in the movies. But his campaign had no distinctiveness, no comparative advantage.”

this guy was a huge DNC contributor while at U. of Pittsburgh , last contibutions '00,probably about time Internet listings got going, according to Newsmeat. Why does Zito make him go to guy on Conservative website?

There are only two acceptable candidates in the race, and you can think of nothing better to do than work nonstop to try to drive one of them out?

I haven’t noticed Fred’s supporters spending a lot of time attacking Duncan Hunter.

This is extremely stupid and counterproductive. With a bunch of liberal idiots running for the Republican nomination, you have to keep attacking the only other conservative in the race? How about spending a little time supporting your candidate, instead? Or going after the big three liberals?

How do these constant anti-Fred posts help your man Duncan Hunter?

Why not keep your eye on the ball? Let’s focus on what’s wrong with the RINOs, squishes, and sellouts in the race? Right now the only candidate likely to overcome Slick-Mitt and the Huckster is Fred. For all the reasons you and I support Duncan, we should be focusing on the disaster for our country if either one of them is our nominee.

Fred isn’t my first pick, Duncan Hunter is, however using their logic, President Ronald Reagan(The best bar none, in my lifetime), lost.

There’s either going to be some severe wailing and gnashing of teeth when Fred and Hunter finally go down - OR a deafeing silence.

Either way - it’s coming.

Everyone thinks he is a Dick Morris.

If this were true, then all the other candidates would be behind Fred, after all when did Mitt, Rudy, McCain or Huckabee ever demonstrate a “willingness to fight for conservative causes.”

Are we to believe that in the absence of someone who comes across as a “fighter for conservative causes” or back up plan is to chose someone who has been a “fighter for liberal causes”

The truth of the matter, is that media shapes initial expectations, and they build up candidates that for one reason or the other they find desirable. How else to you explain an ultra lib like “Rudy” or “Romney” leading a field that has candidates like Thompson and Hunter.

Hopefully Romney and the Huckster will destroy each other, and once they get their liberal rear-ends out of the way Republicans can get serious.

Well after the lofty position Rudy held, front runner and all, you would think with a 3.6% showing in Iowa he would have withdrawn the night of the caucuses. I wonder why the drive by writer didn’t write that story instead?
